no one said they had to be called their father/uncles names and play the same way. Just nice to have a little bit of heritage and look up to see the old man's legacy living on in this kind of way.

You can remember what number Marty Christensen and Damian Drum wore but not the numbers Scarlett and Blake wore?

It was well before my time, but Gunner wore 30 and Blake wore 16 (i think).

I seem to remember reading an article somewhere about Gary Ablett Jr. specifically asking not to have no. 5 because it was hard enough living up to the Ablett name without having to live up to the legendary number as well.

Personally I prefer to have them wear different numbers. If I see a jumper that says 5 ablett I know its a senior fan, likewise if I see a 29 ablett I know its a Junior fan.

Junior picked 29 because Ken Hinkley was his favorite player as a boy.

That is how I remember it. Both Blake and Scarlett inherited their their Father's number.
