O and M 2011 Season

As far as I know it is a similar situation in the GV to the Yarra boys....don't know of any Tatura 2nds players getting paid in the time I played there, would have only been contracted seniors if playing 2nds back from injury etc or playing coach... Don't know of any other GV clubs that pay their 2nds either. This year Tat won the 2nds flag in the GV and I don't think there would have been many in that team that were getting regular match payments.

Well when you got 8-10 coming up from melbourne you gotta pay all them over 1000 a game.

Blokes at albury on 1000+ a game would be 3-4. I know these figures.

Blokes at albury that work at Joss....10+

Depends how you look at it. Jossy gives them a job cause most of them are chippys or work in Facility management part. Its the job which Joss beats all other clubs off with.

For a $1000 a game we get 8-10 players (possibly more), all very good young players, who travel from Thurgoona and Lavington. Strange concept I know, but it seems to work for us.

TWO Williamstown players, who this year qualified for life memberships with the Seagulls, will go bush next season.
Ben Davies and David Stretton will play with Wodonga in the Ovens and Murray Football League after strong 2011 Victorian Football League campaigns.

Great to see for the O&m will be great players and Davies is my early tip for Morris medal. Let's hope some more gun players
Make the journey down to the o&m to strengthen it. Ps That's Wodonga Raiders. Let's not get mixed up

and if you believe Head16, Lavi could pay about 20 players what these two are on!

I actually do believe him and agree, they tend to do things the right way.

I am not sure you could say the right way?? They (Lavy) have a system that works well for them, alot of that credit must go to their outgoing coach who has kept them together for an extended period. However, I would suggest Albury and Yarra's system is working just fine for them. Spend more dollars yes, but they seem to manage just fine financially and have had a massive amount of success in both grades.

Seriously though Yarra must be jack of spending lots to keep coming second, I reckon 3 quarters of the crowd GF DAY were hoping they would get up and roll the tiges. They keep having a crack but just can't quite get there, if it didn't hurt them soo much it would be bloody funny really!

Raiders with 2 good signings and a good young list who will now have some strength and support may become very very competitive next year. Same goes for Corowa. However the 2 heavy weights are still waaayy out in front for mine.

Ben Davies is a massive signing for Raiders. Your talking a bloke who was formerly AFL listed (North Melb i think), who this year was one of the top players at VFL level and seems to be at an age where he will be at the peak of his powers. On paper looks ready to have as big an impact on the comp as Chris Hyde does.
Unbelievable to think that the Raiders have convinced him to drive 300km up the highway for a kick at this stage of his career. Must be on huuuugggeeee coin.

Yeah agree with you mate will strengthen there midfield even more even though I don't think thats the area they really need to look at seeing they already have doolan, schilg, byrant and a few other and is that bloke returning who injured his leg next year. The big coin obviously isnt a problem there but saying that talking about twos players and young ones this will affect them most. Not sure about the situation at raiders but if the club puts big money into gun players someone has to take a hit and its usually the fringe players or reserves payments not the other stars of the team. Thats how a club really loses players to bush clubs.

Your club Wodonga should know all about that Lewis, you are scrambling to get back the ones that have been leaving in droves for the past 5 years due to MASSIVE spending.

A great get for the Raiders to really top up and help the ones that are there to maybe take that next step and be competitive with the Albury's, Yarra's and Lavi's.

Well you would know what massive spending is now too how much would them guys actually be on? Must be massive to come to a place like wodonga compared to vfl where they were both really solid players in a grand final team. Well scrambling wouldn't be the words I would use as it's not like they threw massive money at them
Most come back to the club to help it get back on it's feet the results don't show in 2011 but has set up a good base for 2012 and beyond

If this is the case this is showing a remarkable lack of respect to other great clubs such as North Albury & Lavo.

I don't think you can get people from outside Albury to come in and create one fake team to transplant on top of the proper teams. It would damage the local comp.

A representative Albury team for the whole of the city wouldn't work as the population isn't great enough to compete with the Canberra team, and it assumes that players from further afield can make do with all the travelling. What if you are a great player and you are from Mulwala? Does that mean you should drive to Albury 3 times a week to play in a rep. team?

Let players such as Dylan McNeill play for Lavington, and go through the system from there. Show a bit of respect to the clubs already in Albury and bring the specialised coaching to them direct with high quality clinics for all clubs- not just Albury.
hey one minute you want the o and m to be the best comp in the bush and now you are too scared to have a real crack. The neafl has been on the table for about 10 years and the afl is building it to be like the vfl, or the next step under the afl. Canberra had ainslie, belconnen, eastlake tuggers and queanbeyan in this comp and they still field another 4 teams each for the canberra comp. It is a deffinate way for good players to be drafted. Cant see to many being drafted straight from the o and m . the afl helps out with costs and it is a great comp. why not have a team in it you woose !!!!

Wait until the crunch comes against the top sides then the Faiders will faid again. The hoppers are on the verge of some big signings and will keep close to the finals action again.

Heard at the weekend that the Hoppers have been offering fairly good coin to some blokes down Benalla way....anyone know..

I guess we'll have to wait for Albury to call a press conference to find out... douches!

?????
Have heard the copy of the letter Stevens sent to each kid he has coached through the TPP program is circulating around some rival clubs.....Very interesting....May find it's way to some higher sources at his previous employer i'm hearing. One club south of the border not at all happy with it's content.

Hey Switcheroooney, any chance of printing the contents of said letter.
It would be interesting to see what the storyteller has put together and if he is offering a way to GWS, which would be even more interesting as they apparently severed ties with him.

Sorry Horndog-I haven't seen it and unfortunately wouldn't be privy to it anyway.Just run into a couple of guys from a Victorian club on the weekend in Melbourne at the races and they weren't happy with it or him.Guess he is using his recruiting base in his defence.
