Yet another week where we are saying 'somehow got the win even with our defensive struggles'. It's promising to think how much better we will be once the defence starts playing somewhere near its potential, but will that day come? And will it be this year? But 4-1 is pretty awesome still. And once again JDR going for it on 4th down, and 2pt conversion, gotta love the faith he has in Carr and co. (or lack of trust he has in the D :()

Also, you've gotta love watching Cooper in full-flight go for a 60+ yards TD. Great throw by Carr as well to get it off so well with a man coming at him. Actually scratch that, just watching these 2 team up for any play is great to watch.

Just a couple observations while I watch the replay....

Perry Riley is very good. Much better than what we had before. He reads well, and gets off his blockers to make good run-stuffing tackles.

Washington and Richard are practically identical. We'd almost be better off just using them 50:50, with Olawale providing support, and if we could, trade Murray for a pass-rusher from another team's back-ups that GM might think is worth developing.

I like how Del Rio is gaming the game. We're going for 2 pointers. We're going for 4th downs. We're kicking off deliberately landing the ball at the 1 so that opposing teams start their drives at the 20 instead of the 25 from a touchback.....so many teams are not utilizing this, good to see we are, thinking the game. Like deferring the kick-off, etc.
Let's wait a while before we anoint Riley as 'the guy.' We see it so often where guys play 1-2 good games then go back to the shit that they are.

Washington and Richard aren't too similar imo. Yes, they have great skills as receivers, but I think Washington is more of an outside the tackles runner, whilst Richard has more wiggle and can pound it in there between the tackles.

We are playing the game right now pretty much how you dial it up in Madden lol. It's great to watch, not so great on the stress levels haha.

I would rather argue that the real betrayal is the Oakland governments electing to put the A's above all else for the past decade. The same A's who were trying to leave for San Jose, whilst the Raiders were ignored despite being the loudest of the three sports teams in Oakland who wanted to stay in Oakland in the first place.

This was pretty much the perfect storm. Terrible weather so we have a lack of a passing game who's not named Cooper. Limited running game without Murray. Andy Reid coming off a bye week.

I had already penciled this game in as a loss so I'm not overly frustrated right now. I think it's a near certainty that unless Norton fixes things in the next month, he will be gone at the end of the season. Just an ugly game all round. Oh well, I still like our chances against both Jacksonville and Tampa Bay the next fortnight.

Update:

Have spoken with a source earlier today, who informed me that they will be staggered if Bruce Irvin is anything more than a 1 year rental. Can't go into specifics unfortunately, but I wouldn't be counting on Irvin in 2017 and beyond at this stage..

"He has graded out rather well with PFF, is tied with Mack with 2 sacks and is the team leader with 3 forced fumbles."
