mark sold his soul to have his toyboy fantasy gruden coaching the rrrrrraiders.

part of that required trashing reggie and roster and allowing gruden to play belichick, which comes with much trepidation given his track record

part of that also entails mark wanting gruden to go cheap because mark has to afford a new stadium and relocation fees

mark willingly sacrificed the path of success we were on (3 to 7 to 12 wins), giving the finger to bay area fans, but selling them on the nostalgia, playing them to fill his current stadium out each week....as like a "period of suckness we had to have" and caring more for the LV market / riches, building for that, increase franchise worth, sell to someone in near future, let the raiders mess by then be someone else's problem

dude, blown out of proportion don't believe the BS blah blah....

--------------

Not at all. Plus Mark is quoted saying it. It shows a real problem going on. Inside Raiders HQ. Where they palm blame off, where their reasonings for doing things are badly flawed (eg, couldnt sign mack, cooper has same agent, lets get rid of him too, but oh what are we gonna do come draft when the bosa's etc are under the same agents, d'oh, and word gets round, agents wont deal with Mark/Raiders in good faith anymore)....etc....trading mack to bears cos they thought theyd suck and get better picks, same with cooper to cowboys etc. They make blunders after blunders and then lie and hide behind scapegoats.

Good franchises make good decisions in hindsight. Bad franchises make bad decisions in hindsight.

The Mack trade in particular was actually seen in a positive light from agents because it acknowledged the raiders were committed to finding a solution for the player to get paid when it was evident that the Raiders weren't going to pay that price.

Will not hinder but rather will help them long term.

Another dud game. One a.m. starts are wrecking me. Key showed some better moves but few highlights.

He needs to put on more weight. Hurst and Hall are doing well on the interior. We will fix the edge this off season.

Maybe our last game ever at Oakland v donkeys

GG.exe Your girlfriend has some big ideas. $1 hotdogs.

Former Raiders CEO Amy Trask has a few suggestions
Having a huge party with Oakland artists is a great idea. MC Hammer attends a lot of Raiders home games, so it wouldn’t out of his way to perform a couple songs. He responded to Amy’s suggestion on twitter by saying “We love you Amy #RaiderNation”.

Amy also mentions Too Short and Adam Duritz from Counting Crows. I would like to add in E-40, Digital Underground, and The Coup for your consideration. Green Day would probably be too much to ask for.

The Raider legends signing autographs is a common occurrence in Raiderville before the game, so that wouldn’t be going above and beyond.

The free concessions would be great too, but I highly doubt that would happen. Though maybe something like $1 hotdogs like they do at A’s games from time to time would be a cool idea. I can’t imagine in a million years they would allow the fans onto the field after the game as it would present a security nightmare.

At this point, I think the Raiders should do this stuff regardless of whether they plan to stay another season. These fans have been trampled under the large tracks of the NFL and the Raiders. This would be a small gesture that would not only be a nice thing to do, but a sound business decision.

Hope we keep this guy. Good speed and has a feel for the game.

Erik Harris: The Raiders’ 28-year-old safety tallied the first interception of his career Sunday when cut cut off a Jeff Driskel deep ball that probably would’ve gone for a touchdown. Driskel targeted speedy wideout John Ross, who had Gareon Conley beat down the middle of the field. Harris cut across from Conley’s left, slightly bobbled the ball but ultimately corralled it at his own 5-yard line before getting up and diving forward for a yard. Harris’ pick was the Raiders’ 11th interception of the season. They only had five picks all of 2017. Harris joked after the game, since he kept the ball, that he has to keep it away from his two twin sons since they’ll be running around the house with it.

New York Upstate reports free agent Nathan Peterman will work out for the Raiders.

Peterman is "drawing a lot of interest" from the league, and his next stop will be in Oakland. The ex-Bills quarterback will work out for Jon Gruden, who is reportedly "very high" on Peterman's abilities. New York Upstate's Ryan Talbot wouldn't be surprised if Peterman landed on the Raiders' practice squad.

The Bills cut Peterman the day after the Jets game. He had remained unsigned until now. He finished his career in Buffalo completing just 52.3 percent of his passes for 548 yards, with three touchdowns and 12 interceptions in only eight games and four starts.

Hope Chewy is doing our drafting next instead of Chucky.

Jon Gruden hopes to “restart” Nathan Peterman this offseason

The Raiders signed quarterback Nathan Peterman to the practice squad on Wednesday and head coach Jon Gruden said on Thursday that the birth of AJ McCarron‘s child this week was part of the impetus for the move.

McCarron’s been away from practice and that left the Raiders in need of someone to quarterback their scout team as they prepare to face the Broncos. Gruden also pointed to the chance to work with Peterman over the upcoming offseason as part of what led to the signing.

Gruden acknowledged that Peterman had “some problems” while throwing 12 interceptions in 130 pass attempts during his time with the Bills, but Gruden called Peterman the most pro-ready quarterback in the 2017 draft class while he was still working for ESPN and said Thursday that he hopes to get him moving in the right direction.

“Hopefully we can take him into the offseason program and see if we can’t restart him and get him going,” Gruden said, via NBC Sports Bay Area.

Derek Carr and McCarron are under contract for next season, but there promises to be a lot of roster shuffling for the Raiders before the 2019 season and Peterman could wind up somewhere in the mix should Gruden like how the reboot takes shape.

Said the same thing about Hackenberg. Never hurts to try to develop a guy behind the obvious franchise guy.

San Francisco Giants confirm they have had discussions with Raiders

The San Francisco Giants have confirmed that they have had discussions with the Raiders about the NFL team playing the 2019 season at AT&T Park.

“There has been initial interest expressed in exploring the opportunity of the Raiders playing at AT&T Park,” the Giants said in a statement, via Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group. “Many details would need to be figured out. The Giants want to do what’s best for Bay Area fans and would be open to the concept just as we hosted Cal Football in 2011 when Memorial Stadium in Berkeley was being renovated.”

One of the details to be worked out is whether the 49ers would allow the Raiders to play in their territorial market for a season.

The Raiders pulled their $7.5 million offer to Oakland for use of the Oakland Coliseum for next season after the city sued the NFL and all 32 franchises over the team’s announced move to Las Vegas in 2020.

Owner Mark Davis said last week that “all options are open.”

For scheduling purposes, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the league needs an answer by “early January or February.”

It’s hard enough to play offensive line in the NFL when you’re completely healthy. Oakland Raiders guard Gabe Jackson wasn’t healthy for practically the entire season and continued to suit up each week and do the best job he could.

Jackson partially tore his pectoral muscle while attempting to block Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald in the team’s season opener in September.

Jackson finished that game and started the next 13 for Oakland before an elbow fracture against the Pittsburgh Steelers brought his season to an end. But only after finishing that game as well

49ers tried to trade for Khalil Mack, Raiders now probably wish they had

The 49ers will see Khalil Mack up close on Sunday when they take on the Bears, but they thought four months ago that they were in a position to put Mack in a 49ers uniform — and the Raiders probably wish that was the trade they had made.

As 49ers General Manager John Lynch explained last month, he tried hard to acquire Mack in a trade with the Raiders. Lynch actually said the offer he made was better than the offer the Bears made, but the Raiders went with the Bears’ offer. Lynch wondered if the Raiders didn’t want to trade Mack to the Bay Area’s other NFL team.

That might have been a consideration, but a bigger issue was probably that the Raiders didn’t really see the 49ers’ offer as better than the Bears’ offer. Lynch didn’t say exactly what the 49ers offered for Mack, but assuming it was approximately the same package of draft picks that the Bears ended up giving the Raiders, it’s possible that the Raiders turned the 49ers down simply because the Raiders expected the Bears to be picking higher in the draft order.

And, at the time, that would have been a reasonable assumption. In August, before the Mack trade, the Las Vegas odds pegged the Bears as a 6-10 or 7-9 team this season, and the 49ers as an 8-8 or 9-7 team this season. It was reasonable for the Raiders to think that if both the Bears and the 49ers were offering their first-round draft picks, the Bears’ offer was better.

That turned out to be very wrong: The 49ers are 4-10 and still in contention for the first overall pick in the draft, while the Bears are 10-4 and will send the Raiders a pick no higher than No. 21, and probably more likely in the high 20s or even the 30s. Of course, we can never say for sure what would have happened if the Raiders had traded Mack to the 49ers (the 49ers may have won more games, and the Bears may have won fewer games), but it’s unlikely that Mack would have made such a big difference as to turn the 49ers into a playoff team and the Bears into a team vying for the first overall pick.

So when Mack lines up against the 49ers on Sunday, Lynch won’t be the only one wondering what might have been. Jon Gruden may also see that game and wonder if his team would be in better shape going forward if he’d traded Mack to San Francisco instead of Chicago.

The 3 best offers were from Chicago, the Niners and Jets. Reggie was the one who ultimately decided on Chicago. He was also the one who gave up our 2nd and 5th rounders in the trade. That part was all Reggie and one of the biggest reasons why Gruden fired him.
