Oakleigh have no depth

i realise oak had 9 players out of their best 18 not playing againts queensland.. but 6 of those kids wont be playing again for oak until the later parts of the yr... any one elses thoughts on this..

Ok, perhaps, but perhaps having 23 players unavailable through school footy and injury also doesn't help. The only other player available to play on the list was Richard Minney, but yes watching on Saturday it was a pathetic display

I thought that young Gotch gave us something to look forward to, he tried hard all day but the rest of them looked disinterested after the 1st quarter flogging. Queensland played just like the Brisbane Lions, aggressive, hard, ran hard and mouthed off at every opportunity letting opponents know every mistake they made and then backing it up with some very good skills of their own.

Ive played against gotch about 5 or 6 times, hes a very good player that reads the ball well, however struggled last time i played him when maz played de la, but apart from that yeh he'll be one to watch.

Yeah gotchys a gun, dominates club footy, was a real test this week playing for oakleigh and did ok, knows how to get the footy and knows how to use it. The only query is over his height. How about his De La teammate Pickett?

Due to some of their gun players playing school football its very hard to pick a team week in and week out. The majority of the boys that play are public school boys who don't have private school sports commitments on the weekend. Most of the private school boys will play the first couple of rounds at the start of the year and finish off the remaining rounds towards the end of the season.

I'd guess they would use an under 16 player.

Pretty sure most clubs do it, including Oakleigh, but the list a TAC cup club puts together at the start of the year isn't necessarily it. If you don't make the cut then, doesn't mean you won't get a guernsey later on. The clubs will continue to watch players in local comps and will call them up if they're playing well. Not only when they have injuries. I remember speaking to someone at Eastern last year about where they got Favolic (big bloke I think that's how you spell it) from as he wasn't on their list at the start of the year and another kid Singh played his first year then didn't make the cut (injury I think) the second but was recalled mid season.

has stuggled the first part of the season i think. is a highly rated player at oakleigh aparently and they had him in the record at the start of the year for a player to watch. He is quite a solid boy for his age, and i think is just struggling to find his form at the moment. SHould be one of the more prominenet players later in the year come finals time..

"Langers" needs to be better if he wants to go anywhere. He has worked hard over pre-season to change his body type to be an inside hardworking player. lovely long kick, strong mark and footy smarts very much a confidence player though

Not as easy as that, TAC Cup sides have residential zones where they must select players from.

geez mate..you really hate private school boys who play for oakleigh dont you...the only broadening that needs to be done is the broadening of your brain

With possibly one of the best lists in the TAC cup, it makes me wonder why Oakleigh are 5 wins 4 losses. i know that oakleigh lose a lot of players to school football which doesn't help, but it is no reason for losing 2 of the first 4 games when the school players were in the team. 10 players made the initial vic metro squad and chargers also hav nathan dejurka and cody on their list. i dont see why the chargers cant win their last 4 games with all available players.

oakleigh have a group of players that hold the team together... the second tier players dont step up enough to help them out, its left up to a handful of players each week...

They don't have much grit in them. There losses have been very very bad. Get on top of their midifield and that is all she wrote, 10 goal loss on the way. The backline is pretty poor as well.
