i knew as soon as we picked him up that he would b a dud!! hes shocking. anyone who still thinks that he will improve has no idea. usually there would be some good in him! but he has absolutely nothing going for him! delist !
 
I agree with benny and been on record as supporting JON for ages and nothing has changed. The kid has got a future IMHO and will cut the mustard. First rule about playing football is you need to get find the ball and he certainly has no issue there. There were plenty of others couldnt get a hand on the bloody ball at all. Other shit we can fix, like having decent options ahead of him when he gets it and forcing him to do the 1st thing not overthink it. If any of you get a chance to watch the replay can you let me know why no one has commented on Sylvester and King getting caught in the same manner both of which resulted in goals as well as many others last night. Fact is we looked underdone in terms of match fitness all round. Luckily its 5 weeks away still.

Trouble is BF desperately needs an official scapegoat too so looks like JON has 2 roles to fill.

JON doesn't get the ball. he gets given it......and then he stuffs it up!
Richmond could give the ball to my Grandma out on the ground, and the same result would happen.

If you want to lay the boots in, pick on our Captain because he did little more than JON and has 10 years more experience.

The most disturbing things about last night were:

1. Skill errors; WTF have they been working on over the summer?
2. Lack of pressure on the St.Kilda backline by our forwards. Who the hell was on Fisher? He was allowed to roam up to the centre and deliver with no pressure on him time and time again!
3. General lack of system in our play. TW you have to take the heat for that!

In defence of JON, just look at Moore.

I thought he looked good last night. Made some good spoils and took that great mark. He is 24. We've persevered with him and he looks as though he'll be a good player.

For some guys, it takes time to find your feet. Lay off him. As I said on another post, have patience. Don't let our lack of success force us to deviate from our long term plan.

I know it's hard. I'm hurting just as much as the rest of you.

Gee, we are so easily pleased at Richmond. Moore, one mark and he's arrived.
Justin K of St.Kilda swatted him like a fly in a standing marking dual. Now that was competition. A 'screamer' is not exactly 'contested'.
If Moore gives us 6-7 very good games this year I'll believe you.
Otherwise it's the same old Moore. The same old Tambling, same old Schultz.

If not, our long term plan needs to change from faith to action.

That's a bit harsh. Kosi only scored one goal from a contested mark, the other coming from a push in the back decision that was just plain wrong. I thought Moore played a good game.

Ease up fellas. JON may not be the best No. 8 pick but drafting isn't an exact science. Hell just look at us at the Dogs. Sam Power was a high draft pick? As was Tim Walsh?? Sometimes things just don't work out, sometimes they do. Take solace in the fact that you may find a diamond in the rough late in the draft!

Don't take this as a troll guys, but watching the game last night, he's simply no good. I watch a lot of AFL, seen many Tigers games over the years, and seen enough of Oakley-Nicholls to realise he's not up to it. I've read a lot about him over the past year or two and I see some people defending him because he's still young and bottom-aged, but the fact is he's showing no signs of becoming a good, even decent player at the top level. He panics, has zero awareness, and his foot skills are horrendous. And to me he looks uncoordinated.

Yes he's still young but my word he's got a heck of a long way to go.

Have you guys ever been to a movie, theatre, concert, sports ground, whatever, were the performance is that bad you feel embarrassed being there?

Loved the work young King did for you guys, a real Tiger, always wanted the ball, and did all in his power to get it, well done young man

I remember now, I agree it's gone beyond head shaking, how long can we persist with some players (it's tambling for me) before we simply cut our losses and move on.
 
Showed courage at times and ended the game with a nice run through the centre and pass inside 50. You can either choose to focus on the good things like that, or harp only on the bad.

Pre-season's are about progression in body size and skills, and while JON still needs plenty of work on that side of things, it's actual games which build confidence. He'll start building that confidence at Coburg again this year and gradually get his act together.

We expect all our players to be guns at an age where they wouldn't have even got near senior selection at a good club.
