Don't worry he'll be there. He'll come on after a loss laughing and joking like it was no big deal (just like after the first Footscray game last year). I'd love the chance to personally ask him what's so funny about losing.

Are you sure it was Footscray. I have a feeling it was either South Melbourne or North Melbourne... Can't remember which one though. :D

How quickly does he cover the ground Ez? Is he a lumberer, or is he quick for a big guy?

It was hard to gauge for a couple of reasons.

(a) He never got it delivered lace out so most of the time when he went near the ball he had to stop and prop then leap so the defender had well and truly closed in on him.

(b) He was really puffing. He would generally give one or two good efforts and the fitness would blow up.

From what I saw today I think his first 5 - 10 are probably pretty good. Because when he did lead it seemed that he would have a gap between himself and the defender, then that would be shut down because a slightly ill directed kick.

He is really unfit so it is hard to comment one way or another. He did make a long lead in the second quarter up on to the wing and take a low diving mark which showed good agility.

Most of his stuff was in packs of three of four. It will be interesting to see how he will go with teammates with better skills and his fitness base increases, because today it was basically contest, pull it down or rebound out and then walk. The complete match fitness is still about a month away I would suggest.

There was a mention in one of the paper's today about "Lockettess" type mannerisms. Without getting too carried away, the abnormally big frame and good hands certainly lend itself to these comparisons. I can't stress enough just how much a of a big lump of a kid he is.

I know some guys who went to MGS with him and they basically said he was gigantic. Freakishly big, and built.

Of Kelly and Ling, I'd keep Kelly on his current form if he hadn't been suspended, and I'd keep Ling simply so we can use him to tag Scotty West and free up Bartel, Corey to play on guys who need less attention.

Would you rather he cut himself? Or maybe ask one of the panelists to whip him or something....would that make you feel better?

Yes it would. I'll ask you then - when a player from your club appears on television, after not only playing poorly himself but after the team lost, are you happy to see him laughing like an idiot at the crap the panelists throw at him. Because I'm not.

And the same smiling idiot comes out in the press and acts like he's played a great year when we all know he was rubbish. Enough said.

I thought Billy Brownless was our representative on the Footy Show:D

Thanks for the report ezbian, interesting to hear how the big lunk went. Obviously can't draw too many conclusions from such a hit-out, but the more match time the boy gets, the better. Hope to see him line up in the practice match this weekend (unless there is also a VFL praccy, in which case play him there).
