Are you saying 2 of the 4 in the leadership group want him gone?

If so then the players need to revolt.

It needs to happen.

It's gonna be painful but once done we can heal as a team and a club.

Currently we are no where.

Mate. We are not no where. We are 18th:thumbsu:

I dont begrudge the administration focussing on expanding our club' physical footprint, starting a VFL side, an AFLW side and making sure we are financially sustainable but it looks like they have taken their eye off the major reason we exist - to win a flag.
There's your false premise right there.

This may be your priority. It may be mine.

But for the guys making huge six figure salaries as employees of NMFC, what do you think is their reason d'etre as far as the NMFC is concerned?

Would they rather the NMFC add to its trophy cabinet within the next three years without them, or would they prefer the club continue to meander about in no man's land on the field (but keep bringing in just enough money to pay their account payables every month) with them?

To put it in more simple terms, this is a job for these guys. A well-paying job in an industry with lots of competition for plum roles. The club is essentially a business, an employer, one which -- unlike many other professional football clubs around the world -- cannot be relegated to a lower tier (and the lower expenditure which comes with it).

tl;dr self preservation ($$$) > flags

I have issues with people claiming we can just Chuck the most successful off field strategy we've ever had, one being copied comp wide, coz Brad keeps playing Jmac.

What a load of frog shit. Keep your politics and your football separate mate.

It is hard to tell from the outside who is doing well in terms of management and who is not. Ultimate judgement is made by success both on and off field. Seem to be doing OK off field but on field an unmitigated disaster. Love to know the KPIs set by the board for Brad. 10 years of on field waste has to come to a head. Can't sack a heap of players and the board will not all roll over. Then Brad has to go. We need a fresh look at our list, our game plan and player development - all three right now are massive failures. We are not going to change the board - they have protected themselves so well that we cannot even nominate unless they say it is ok. Leadership positions off field are hard to impact. I suspect we may see some changes in mid level coaching as a peace offering.
In the first instance, I'd settle for a total review of the club and its operations, obviously including the football department, by someone who is both well respected and obviously independent of the current regime. The results would need to be made available to members.

I'm arguing for this approach because it may be less threatening to the Board than an outright challenge.

On the other hand, if Ricky Ponting and our former players decided that the current situation is unsustainable and decided to take matters into their own hands, I'd be cool with that.

soo many certainties being posted here, im amazed at the inner scrote some of you guys must have...

if you believe that the club no longer feels beholden to us, why do you believe that the external messages of hope and expectation for '19 were mirrored in internal communications? for all i know the board were fully informed to expect the spoon this year.

These posts are from today.

The comments underneath are weirder than here....a vegan giving scarves out...wat...I dunno there aren’t many likes after some time removed from Friday.

Until this gets traction in mainstream media it probably is going nowhere

?

It's only in its infancy, but another group is mobilising as we speak. This includes a few former players if they agree to jump on board.

THAT'S the best news I have heard ALL YEAR!

Which of the 20 past years?

Seriously we have been between a rock and a hard place.

Carlstink have won 3 of the past 30 odd games or something

Could we sustain that and survive?
Part of me was venting, part serious. I understand the complexities we've faced in not wanting to bottom out over the last ten years.

On reflection, I wonder if we put our heads in the sand a bit during compromised draft years just hoping no one would get poached. Could we have been more aggressive/proactive in working some deals?

I think we should have looked to clean out at the end of 2017. Reset was a soft option IMHO.

In regards to list management, recruitment & trading:

One thing I do know is that on a number of occasions during drafts and list management decisions over the last 2 years Brad Scott and Cam Joyce have gone against the recommendations of Mark Finnigan (recruitment manager) & Michael McMahon (List manager).

The trading Pruess decision was one particular example. McMahon wanted him on the list and wanted to hold him to his contract unless we got a pick inside the top 30 for him. Joyce signed off on the Pruess/Tyson swap despite McMahon not wanting it at all. We subsequently signed Tyson to a 3 year deal which (McMahon) was left fuming about.

The 2016 draft was a complete schmozzle. That was during the transition period where Joyce was moving into the GM of football role, but still wanted control over recruitment decisions. We picked Simpkin, Watson & Williams with our first 3 picks. All the recruiters wanted Sam Powell Pepper at our first but Joyce wanted Simpkin. Guess what happened?

The next two picks are even funnier. At pick 34 we identified Tom Stewart & Luke Ryan as priorities, because we needed better kicking out of the back half. At 36 we identified the need for a small forward I’m lead to believe that we were really keen on one of Willie Rioli/Kayle Kirby/Tingpunwuti.

We then ended up with Dec Watson And Josh Williams instead. Is it a coincidence that our part time QLD recruiter was tight with Joyce? I think not.

There are various other examples of these sorts of things happening too.
If true that’s abominable

Wonder if Robbo is cruising this thread tonight?

Hopefully hes following up on all this 'insider' mail I keep hearing about, going as far as past players thinking of mobilizing against the clubs current direction.

Even Robbo doesn't have to put his nose far to the ground to know something is smelling fishy at Arden St.

Is Scotts Tuesday night 360 a regular weekly occasion this year?
