Fremantle $1.90
West Coast $1.80

So WC are slight favourites, as they should be. Should be an awesome game. Can't wait.

Talk it up dannyboy, that kind of thinking leads to dropping of the head when we hit the front.

Underdogs my a***

This would be the closest the two teams have been going into a derby that I can remember.

That sounds about right. Both teams are very even and have an equal amount to play for.

Both teams have been in red hot form at subi and the eagles have been the better of the two on the road.

I may have a few bob on Freo by under 39.5 points. I remember last year when the Eagles were as flat as a pancake and were outplayed by a poor Freo side. Freo has added Headland and a couple of othe players have improved. WCE has Chick and some improvements but BB is out of form and Cuz is not the dominant player he has been. There is also crowd advantage. Freo can expect 25,000 shouts and WCE about 12,000. Thats a 2-1 advantage in encouragement and ability to sway the umpires.

One last important point. The Eagles annual goal is the flag. The Dockers annual goal is to beat the Eagles. This is their grand final.

You think?? Its just typical eagles pomposity smacking of self importance and arrogance. In 1 respect correct as our goal each year is to beat the eagles………….. and 14 other teams in the competition. Its your mob who make pacts not to lose to us.

Yep, it is, except this is your home game.

The Round 22 clash will be a tougher match for Freo because it will be a very pro-Eagles crowd (with 80-90% being members). The Eagles will have a bit more support this week. (Not sure what this has to do with the odds but anyway......)

I can assure you that beating Freo is no more a pleasure than beating say Collingwood.

Conversely, for Freo fans I have seen the absolute glee in their faces following a win over the Eagles, and it means so much more to them. The reason why is obvious, nothing to do with arrogance. The Eagles are WA's number one side, their following and history makes that a fact. For a number 2 side to beat the No 1 is a big thing. For the number 1 side to beat the number 2 is not so big. I disagree. Fremantle aren't our biggest rivals in the AFL. It would have to be out of Essendon, Geelong or Hawthorn as there is much more history between us playing them. The players would only prepare for the game differently because of all the media hype in a 2 team town.

At the end of the day, the winner only gets the 4 points. It's no different to next weeks game for us against Melbourne.

Yes I agree with GoEagles, freo are primely just our state rivals and therefore the game is hyped up to give the winning team bragging rights for the state. Our main rivals with history is essendon with the jacket waving, geelong with the two grand finals and the hawks from the 1991 waverly park g.final.

At least they stayed until the game finished. Dockers supporters usually head off at 3 quarter time as their team is losing.:D Like their players they lack commitment.

Are you being serious? In the block I was sitting in last year's second derby only a few West Coast supporters stayed until the game finished, and full credit to them. About 80 - 90% of the Eagles supporters in the block left during the final quarter.

Our group were there til the end and most Eagles fans are the same. I WAS dissapointed at last seasons loss because we played poorly against a bottom 4 side and should have done better. Having said that, Freo did play quite well on the day and were the better team. The thing is that losing to Freo will never rank alongside losing to the Bombers or even the Bulldogs.

I've never left till the end. I hate losing to Freo. I hate losing to anybody.

Freo will never advance as a club until they stop treating the Eagles games as Grand Finals. On the other hand, while taking the local rivalry seriously, the Eagles are focussed on the "big picture", which is Finals and Flags.

Like I said before: from what I could see, MOST Eagles' supporters left during the final quarter.

If you live in WA, then I'm sure you would be in the minority with thst statement. The fact remains that there are more Freo fans in WA than Bombers or Bulldogs fans which means there will be more fans who will brag to you about the victory (you know what supporters are like after derbies).

Supporters of WC and Freo love winning derbies because they know they will have bragging rights over their mates, colleges etc. They hate losing because they don't like copping the **** from supporters of the other club, whether it be from mates, colleges etc.

In addition to what I just posted: To the players derbies would mean no more than playing against any other club, but to most supporters derbies would mean much more than playing against other inter-state clubs (especially if the supporter is from WA).

I am sure all teams make sure they lose to no one. But, we supporters did not make those pacts, they players do, and I am sure most at the violets think about their GF against the Eagles making pacts they don't lose to them.

No difference from what I see.
