Close to a game but you didn’t make it

About the long forgotten Micky Martin
How he hasn’t played since round 10 2000
How he was drafted from the Bulldogs
Had a good season but got an injury
He was down and sustained it once again.

And it was a bitch of a thing to carry from that time on
Its almost fully healed, ready for a good pre season
It was a sad time for him
But now it’s over for good
And his heart was held in the Brisbane Lions
And the OP was crap, calf and OP again
And the supporters were happy when you got over it
But a strong team got in your way
But you never gave up
Or the growing need to play once again.

So you tried the hardest you possibly could
Tried to make it in the team, but it was unsuccessful.
Held the form in the ressies
Getting BOG’s when you could
But the form almost got you in the team

And you havn’t played for over 800 days
Tried to get there and you will next year soon enough
And you’ve back from Injury
But the time will soon come
As your nearly there to play AFL again.

You know the OP out of Micky’s almost gone
Only a huge pre-season, and you’ll be back in the team
There aint nothing like the feeling
Getting over a long term injury
Your gonna hit some great form all season long.

Mate, there will be more songs coming on when he plays next year.

Actually Lioness, me and a friend are planning on making a CD. Its me taking off a collection of Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes songs.

But the thought has crossed my mind of re-writing Cold Chisel and Jimmy Barnes songs, sing them, put them onto a CD and sending them up to the player(s) its about. Such as this one.
