ODI Spinner, who's the next candidate?

Obviously Doherty is the spinner in the current side, but who should be the spinner in the next ODI series in the West Indies? With 4 years until the next WC I think it's time to take a chance on a younger player. The only ones getting a regular game for their states are Agar, Zampa and Boyce.

Zampa currently has the best record of the three, but they're all different types of spinners. Who do you think should get the gig? I'm leaning towards Zampa.

Agar probably worth a go given that he's had a taste, found some tough times and has seemingly overcome them.

Given that Doherty is unlikely to get another chance in the cup, will be be interesting to see if Maxwell can make the spinning position in the XI effectively obsolete.

I still think that having 2 spinners and 4 quicks instead of 1 spinner and 5 quicks is a better balance though.

Either one would do a decent job if they were given an extended run in the ODI team. Agar is my choice since he has worked a few things out and is now in excellent wicket taking form in the Sheffield Shield. I believe he could develop into a very crafty One Day spinner.

Any of Zampa, Boyce or Agar could go well if given a fair run in the side. I like all of them but I see Agar as the best ODD bowler out of them (stats wouldn't back me up on this one), Boyce/Agar pretty even as the best FC bowler and then Zampa/Boyce ahead of Agar in T20's.

Muirhead has potential, but I'd go with Agar. I'd definetly give Boyce and Zampa a chance too.
Muirhead has barely played any List A Cricket and has an econ rate of 7 so...

Boyce has shown promising signs in his T20I so far, wouldn't mind giving him a go. Next season Ryobi cup will hopefully help decide on the options.

As long as it's not played at North Sydney again. 'Oh look Zampa only went for 9 an over whilst Agar went for 13 an over' :$

Zampa had the most wickets of any spinner in the Ryobi last season.

Another option is Jon Holland, a left arm spinner. His drop is masterful.

Why is no one saying Lyon? Bizarre...he's actually a pretty decent ODI bowler.

No thanks. Pretty awful in ODD cricket. Can focus on tests whilst we look to the future by developing along a couple of younger guys.

Masterful? Very generous to call any aspect of Holland's game that. Decent bowler but really he's just another of an abundance of decent ODI left arm tweakers we have available.

He's got a better List A record than most of the other names being mentioned here.

Not sure why we need to "look to the future" either, when Lyon is still only 27 years old himself, which is still relatively young for a spinner.

Awful?

39 wickets @ 34, economy rate of 4.7.

Has 11 wickets @ 30 in his 8 ODIs with an economy rate of 4.5.

Staggering that a 27 year old test bowler is seemingly out of the frame with those numbers.

I'd go with Zampa or Agar. Agar is okay with the bat as well as clean in the field. I do like a leggie though. I believe the Australian pitches cater better for the leggies due to the bounce generated.
