Nevil has sucked with the Renegades this BBL season
Ludaman is far better with the gloves & can hit the ball. nevil just pushes the ball in to space and runs for singles
I never said Nevill is better with the gloves than Ludeman, what does Ludeman have to do with what I said?

Also, BBL form isn't relevant to this discussion.

Nevill can score boundaries but he usually bats with a boundary hitter so tries to limit the dots and turn over the strike well. Nevill is the equal of Ludeman with the gloves

Finch can defend, Maxwell goes straight to gear - 6.

>insert he should play cause he does the freakish things line here<

*i'll show myself out

Maxwell is better than Finch

Any one a Tim ludeman fan? He hasn't got as many runs on the board as Paine or a Wade, but is a good striker and very clean and tidy keeper.
Have Hartley ahead of him, but Ludeman is about as good as anyone as a gloveman.
edit: To e clear, that is purely as a gloveman and for long form. Wouldn't mind Ludeman or Whiteman given a run in the shorter games.

whys that ?

(as batsmen only, I would have thought they are on par, Finch may even have the advantage of being a top order player)

Maxwell has a better technique (even if he shows it rarely) and has a greater range of shots.

whiteman will be a player the selectors will look to in the future, as being the youngest of the keepers in the country, but already carries big wraps on him

Should be selected when Haddin retires. He's close to the best choice on merit anyway and has the biggest scope.

I must say as we don't get a great chance to see the glove work of other keepers in the Shield, the BBL is a rare chance to see them under pressure and Nevills keeping has been extremely poor, if you watched Nevill and Wade in the Big Bash then you would probably say Wade is a better keeper

whiteman is 22, not sure what whiteman's keeping skills are like but he has big wraps. wade has just turned 26 and is a far better bat. it will be interesting which way the selectors go,

Wade can't keep.

At age 22, Whiteman's keeping looks like it shits all over Wades. His positioning is good and he's generally clean with the gloves in a way Wade can only dream about.

Wade far better batsman at this stage (and probably better bowler:p )

If Wade let go of the gloves, he'd probably be one of our best prospects with the bat.

Wade's actually one of the best batsmen going around shield cricket.

Victoria need to push hard for Peirson or Triffitt

Dunk would be the ideal get, especially considering his Shield form this season. I don't think it's a very realistic hope though. For starters, Wade isn't going to give up the gloves, though he should. Also, with Dunk having established himself in the top five at Tassie, even if Wade were to give up the gloves, I can't see him being too keen to come and bat at six/seven for Victoria.

If Bailey is out as CA seem to be saying, who's captain? We haven't had a fast bowling captain in 57 years but MiJo may well get a go. Otherwise Smith, if he comes straight in, or even Wade?

Bring White in to captain?

Bring White in to captain?

Wouldn't be the worst call considering it's just for a game. I wonder if they might recall Haddin over last minute or something similar if they were to go that route though.

I think they really want Haddin to take the next 2 games off. White is in form and a very good captain, both tactically and with people. That'd be my answer

Johnson shouldn't captain but they may well make him skipper if George isn't ready. Making him VC means they would surely consider him a candidate. No chance I'd be going with him though. Give it to Smith, he's done a fair bit of captaincy and one would think he's at the forefront of the selectors' minds when it comes to Clarke's successor.
