ODI Squad

Watson at 3, I'll live with that, Watson is one of the best ODI players, and Clarke at 5, Bailey....we have enough batsmen.

Clarke bats at 4 in ODI's.

Any ideas on the poms side?

Alastair Cook (Essex) (Capt), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Ravi Bopara (Essex), Tim Bresnan (Yorkshire), Danny Briggs (Hampshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire), Michael Carberry (Hampshire), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Eoin Morgan (Middlesex), Boyd Rankin (Warwickshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Tredwell (Kent).

Another horrible head to head one day series.

Can't wait for them to make 3 changes every 2nd game. You know because the games mean **** all so we can send out rank 3rd in line ryobi players to see if they can get some experience.

The big bash is actually more meaningful than these games

Hmm. If I were picking the side it'd be:

Cook
Carberry
Root
Bell
Ballance
Stokes
Buttler (+)
Bresnan
Broad
Tredwell
Finn

Bailey nearly averages 55 in ODI who would you replace him with. As already been pointed out Clarke bats at 4 in ODI's.

She means that Hughes wouldn't get a game ahead of Bailey

Why would that have any bearing on ODI selection?
In a fifty over match I just like to have 6 guys who can bat for 45+ if required. It is also no coincidence that most of the best ODI batsmen are highly rated FC and test players too.

Should we drop Bailey from the ODI team because of his poor Test and Shield form?

Finch is a very good 50 over player, completely different formats. The relevant average is his List A one, which stands at a very handy 39.15.

Bailey isn't struggling to hold his spot for Tasmania and is a much better player than Finch.

FWIW I was saying the same thing about David Warner five years ago.

Bailey hasn't produced in the long form in some time, same as Finch.

To some extent too players like Clarke and Bailey offer good stability in the ODI team so we can afford to have a few Finch/Warner types who can be a bit hit and miss. I'm happy with the selections, though Voges is a little stiff. Guess he wouldn't have played with Pup back anyway.

Voges is injured?

Never said that. Our top order doesn't need a Hughes type plodder

Warner and Marsh really are golden boys though. Warner has been a bit shit in ODIs generally and Marsh is a flake. I think Hughes has been stiffed. He hasn't been any worse than those 2, in fact, I'd say he's been better.
