I would like to get rid of the guys that have been there a long time in Campo and Clarke, along with Burton. I tend to judge Campo and Clarke's performance on how the group they coach go, so both with some good and some bad years but are they the best people for the job we can get? I dont think so

We like to make them the whipping boys but how has Clarke underperformed if you look at sauce career ?

And given our mids on paper has been our weakest line has campo really underachieved in last few years ?

Not saying they are best for job but can we look at performances on field and say they are not ? I'm not sure

I'd just like fresh ideas but not necessarily because they're no good

I basically share this opinion. They haven't been bad coaching their lines but at the committee level they are shit out of ideas and let relationships with players they've known for 10 years get in the way of selection decisions

No way in Hell. Pyke is not to blame for what has happened this year.

Goodbye Burton, Haas for starters. Would love to see a change in midfield and ruck coaches as well; probably more. The place needs a shake up after what's happened this year. We're still in our premiership window but must make the most of it next year.
P.S........oh yeah.......and a word to the new fitness staff.....please make damn sure that Brad Crouch is %100 ready to go from round 1 next year.

Think it needs to start at the top to be honest. Chappie has done some good things steering our club through a crisis whilst remaining competitive but that crisis happened on his watch and forever taints him. Best for him to move on now and leave on a somewhat positive note.

Secondly, whatever we are looking to do, nepotism needs to stop in this club, it is damaging our culture. Best person for the job must be our selection criteria from now on. If we do that then the review of our off field will remove and replace the right people, with the right people and go a long way to helping those charged with our on field success

When it comes to Burton, I’ve no doubt he has talent for his current role and is an impressive individual, unfortunately I think he and the club (Brisbane too), have made the mistake of promoting him before his time, before he’s performed a genuine apprenticeship. It’s similar to how Voss and Hird went down in flames as senior coaches. We back experience on field, but off field we’ve chosen to back in an inexperienced operator and its blown up in our faces.

Instead of potentially paying top dollar, we have chose to fast track the career of Burton(and Hass), likely on the cheap.

Whilst we are not a massive Victorian powerhouse, we are(should be) a strong enough club that our key off field positions are filled with experienced, quality personnel. I don’t have any issues bringing in Burton if we see potential in him, but make him serve an apprenticeship and if he wants to be head honcho straight away, then let him gain that experience elsewhere.

Unfortunately we’ve tried to skimp in key off field positions and we’re paying for it now.

Absolutely correct. He may one day be adequate but let not be the club that allows these guys to learn their craft here. He is certainly not a Neil Balme, Greg Swan, Mark Noble, Mark Evans.

An article on AFL website saying that clubs are asking about Blake Caracella who is the mid coach at Richmond. I'd be keen, but think he'd only move for a promotion to senior coach.

Imagine if we'd won the flag, all our assistants would be getting poached by other clubs. What a shame that would've been.......

I acknowledge that I dont understand the internal workings of the club in particular what power Pyke has. Yes he is the Head Coach of the club and in my opinion he should have the final say on many facets about what the club needs.

Team selection should be a discussion but the final selection should be Pyke decision. His assistant coaches should be his decision and no one elses. After all he will be the first judged on how the team performs. He will be the one held accountable. Same goes for recruiting. Pyke should be the one to determine what we need (speed, height, ready made, aggressive, skill sets) and the recruiters should be presenting to him what they have found and their recommendations. But Pyke should be signing off on what the recruiters final goals are. If any of his assistant coaches are overriding his decisions ( which is what many on here have stated) then either Pyke gets rid of them or he is weak or he doesnt have the power. Pyke just cant be a mounth piece to front the media he must have the strength to make these hard calls.

Back to my lack of knowledge about understanding the internal structure of the club which may very well be the problem. The structure may have Pykes hands tied. If so then we will never realise the ultimate level of success.

Does anyone here really knows who has the final say in any of the areas I have questioned. Or again are we all just guessing.
