Collingwood have to weigh up whether they want to have a fair dinkum tilt at a flag, or just be perennial finalists.

You replace say a Thomas or Pendlebury and another youngster with a Judd, and get yourself a second ruckman, you could be playing in a Grand Final next season.

The Untouchable Players

Ben Reid
Dale Thomas
Martin Clarke
Nathan Brown
Scott Pendlebury
Travis Cloke
Chris Dawes
Heath Shaw
Why are the guys in bold off limits?

Only one has played AFL and he's an average kick.

Kennedy has shown more than Reid.

Egan, Toovey and Johnson>WCE
Judd and their first pick>Collingwood

Or something like that. ;)

I still find it funny that they're not prepared to give up Thomas plus a pick and another player for a Judd.

Drugs are bad, mmmmkay.

Fraser won't cut it and would be their third ruckman.

If we did get our hands on another draft pick which most likely be top 10-maybe top 5, then our offer of 2 first rnd draft picks would be alot better than anyone else's offer of just 1.

Only carlton could trump it if they activated pick1-which is off limits.

Anyway, lets just wait until Judd makes a decision.

While I would generally agree 3 first round picks at say 10,12 and 14 may not be as good as 3 and something else, given this years draft and the talk that WCE may want one of the young WA guns in Palmer and Morton as compensation.

I think Reid for Pick 5, throw in Guy Richards, is your best bet. 5 and 13 and then something else and you may be able to trump it.

Jeez, talk about people overblowing the situation. That list looks about right.

If we HAVE to lose one or two of those players, does that mean the Blues need to lose Murphy or Gibbs?

Does that mean Melbourne should lose Mclean or Jones?

Do Essendon need to lose Gumbleton or Ryder?

Didak and/or Fraser will be shopped around as trade bait if we are to get Judd. Adelaide are reportedly chasing Didak so we will get ahold of a top10 pick-maybe top5 if Didak is to be traded.

A top 10 pick/top5 pick + another first rnd pick (14) would be an equitable trade. Maybe throw in a sweetener as well.

We don't have to lose those players because we have the high picks. You don't. You can't get a top 5 pick because the teams with those picks are either in the race for Judd or not interested in handing them over. Adelaide may make the trade but it's far from a certainty.

Therefore one of the young guns has to go.

Reid turned 18 in April, making him two years younger than Kennedy.

The guys in bold are from the 2006 draft and are in their first year on the list. Dawes is definitely off limits as its hoped he will eventually replace Rocca. The other two are tradeable IMO, if AFL rules permit it, which I still haven't seen a clear answer on.

Better than any other suggestion i've seen. Rusling has already shown he could be huge, and Swan is always consistent in the middle. I'd take them over pick 3 and 20, no one even knows who those players are yet.
Rubbish.

West Coast will take: #3, #20 and Kennedy before they even have the chance to laugh at Rusling & Swan for Judd.

what (one-eyed) footy fans have to realise is there's got to be some give and take when your trading, you can't just take take take without giving, someone of Judd's quality/calibre is going to have to net a very high draft pick (top 5) and a quality up-and-coming player ... he's the same age as Bartel/Ablett/Kerr .. and just in case you guys didn't notice, he polled in 8 consecutive games to open up the season before he had his injury.

What other one-eyed fans need to realise is that the Eagles are unlikely to get Judds worth, instead they will get a series of bid options and will need to focus on one. The banter in here of evaluating for example Rusling and Swan v Pick 3 and 20 is exactly what WCE will be debating.

FWIW the Eagles have been very clear publicly that they want picks over players given their salary cap position. In the background there is also the issue of wanting an early pick to try to secure a top young WA kid - for mind I haven't read this directly from the Club but it would have to be a consideration (fans of Clubs with a top 3 or 4 would like to think so anyway).

Rusling is extremely overrated and Swan is your typical hard working hard running centreman. I don't think they would be worth 3 let alone 3 and 20 but that's what it will boil down to.

IS 3 and 20 better than Melbourne's 4 and 21 and a pick from elsewhere versus what ever else the Pies can conjure up?

He is right on the money.

I keep telling you, Didak and Fraser will form the guts of any Pie deal to get Judd. Anyone who argues that Didak is not top shelf quality has NFI.

I'm not complaining about that, because I know the eagles will never be compensated fully for Judd, we will always be on the losing end, what I'm complaining about is the amount of posts about "untouchables", if you want a proven big-game player, your going to have to give something up like a high draft pick or a quality up-and-coming player (such as Rusling/Thomas/Pendlebury)

that remains to be seen. When Judd names which club(s) he wants to be traded to, then we'll all have a better idea. If he names one club, WC is going to be a tight situation.

If you want to draft in a player of Judd's calibre then be prepared to cough up ya tight arses!! I'd rather see him go in the PSD than to Collingwood anyway!

Ottens went for 2 1st round picks

as did hay and I think thompson as well

I would think Judd would be a mile ahead of those blokes!

I would think Fevola and Pick 3 - this allowing Carlton to get Kreuzer as well.

Or Gumbleton and pick 6 and a swap of 2nd rd picks
