Sam Naismith employed to push Sean Darcy to his best from someone who wishes they had better luck with their body?

Could make a Hollywood movie with a theme like that.

I think Curley and JL are mates from way back but looks like he played with Simon Garlick as well.

What connections (if any) does Naismith have to the club?

I like that Garland is squarely focused on stoppages. Hopefully he can have the same impact as set-piece / dead ball coaches in football (like Nicolas Jover for Arsenal)

As well as having the dedicated opposition coach role, a good move in a tight competition, may help turn those tight loses into wins.

Yeah, Garland was new to that role this year and we improved to one of the best clearance teams in the comp - not sure what it was at the end of the home and away season but we were #1 in differential by a huge amount late in the year.

Giving him a bit kore focus on this one area will hopefully see that improve again.

Also incredibly highly rated - one of the guys JL brought in straight away when appointed.

Don’t understand the Naismith appointment. Any Richmond lurkers care to shed some light on his value?

Yeah bit confused myself. Unless he was doing some behind the scenes coaching it's strange to hire such an inexperienced ruck coach.

Edit: Drifted into the Richmond board and they speak very highly of him.

I'd say it's not super surprising, there's a number of ex-players who had bad injury histories who have taken up coaching.
My suspicion is many of them help out in that space while stuck in rehab, and some discover a passion and/or knack for it.
