He conveniently falls to mention Bont missed 5 games and Darcy 7 (I believe) not to mention Treloar and Cody the entire season. We did ultimately fail when considering controlled our own fate and only needed to win at home to make finals but you can't ignore the games missed, especially when our defensive structure meant our floor was low.

All off-season discussion should be skewed towards fixing the below more than anything, because outside of the Swans no one from that bottom 9 is moving up the ladder next year.

What excites me the most for next season is what Crofty, Arty and Sam can do. Sam can go from star to super star. Crofty can be anything and I think Arty can show he is a bona fine really good player with pace and skill.

This I agree with. We got to 14 wins and unearthed some amazing talent - a few tweaks and I think we will be right up there for a block of years

It’s amazing doing what we did this year while missing key players for large chunks and blooding youngsters who are the future of the club

How do you know they’ve tried their hardest? It’s a ruthless game, it’s not everyone gets an encouragement award.
Decisions to improve the club have to be made. I look forward to tough decisions and changes being made on exits and entrants to the club.

Then... He'd understand that football is a team sport.

It's unreal how all of the pro-chattering class have spent the last week pointing out the personnel and tactical weaknesses in our defensive half and how we desperately need to address them. And then they post this kind of shallow rage-bait garbage that implies that two players (or even 5) alone by force of will can overcome the issues that they themselves have spotlighted.

I posted earlier this year that this team was shaping up as an analogue of bulldogs teams of the recent past. An elite core, a handful of reliable foot soldiers and then a prebiotic soup of developing, cast offs, career sliders and place holder players. And nothing much has changed my view on that.

What it self evidently isn't, is a top 4 list as Cornn Kannes would have us believe.

Agree it’s unfortunate for the players but people have been proposing their list changes all year with barely anyone raising an eyebrow. Now that the time for the list clean out is imminent why is it suddenly sad?

Westy really impressed me with his brief stint in the middle and on the ball against Freo. He seemed to have that extra physical edge and competitive around the ball that some of his teammates didn't. He is obviously so important to our fwd structure next to the talls, but maybe with Cody back next year and a potential Dolan emergence, there might be more of a chance to play him a bit higher up the ground at times too.
