I'd take Siddle (WA) if he was a massive influence culturally but I get the feeling he's a bit more divisive now since the Test era.
Otherwise would rather get games into youngsters.
Maybe he could play as a bat ahead of 6 of our under delivering batsmen
You'd rather Moody or Guthrie continue to get games when you could potentially play Siddle?

He's about the most un-divisive bloke you'll ever encounter. Damn weird post.

Forget those two, he could bat at 6 instead of Stoinis

Nick Winter to Tassie? seems to be the only new info

Nabbing a 30yr old averaging 26 would be the most Tassie thing ever
He's barely had a chance though, he's played 14 games most of which has had him coming in at 7 or 8, and in his last game he was the only WA player to get a 50 in the match.

No, definetly not Moody. Haven't seen enough of Guthrie to comment.
Working off the assumption our batting doesn't get any better to win a Shield in the next 2 years, so Siddle won't be part of that next side.
Getting the likes of Paris fit, Green bowling, Dorrf back, Mackin back into form of 2yrs ago, more games into Hardie. Hopefully having Tye back in One Day matches, Richardson a bit more pending National duties.
I'm not across the youth players coming through, but my comment was trying to highlight giving younger players a push vs. recruiting an older player who wo't be there when we do push for the title again. If his role is to mentor some young up and comers then great, but the issue for WA hasnt been lack of talent for the bowlers, its been injuries.

I would be amazed if we didn't lose a couple of Stoinis, Cartwright, Coulter-Nile, even Bancroft, though suspect the first 3 are likely to pursue other states. After such a poor finish and lack of apprent leadership both on field and off, can't see how we hold the list together.
Brings a good opportunity for the Rep under age players, Connolly and Goodwin spring to mind if anyone has formed a better opinion on them. Rookie contract (if they aren't already)?
Interesting times.

Here's my thoughts on retirements/delistings from the 2019/20 full contracts:

Victoria:
Fekete (retired), Ayre, Reed, Vines, Coleman

NSW:
SOK (retired) Dwarshius, M. Edwards, Fallins, Gibson

WA:
Mackin, Guthrie, Cartwright?

QLD:
Hemphrey, McDermott

TAS:
Bailey (Retired), Bevilaqua, Willis

SA:
Dalton, Grant, Page

Coleman and Vines probably get renewed. Coleman is Victoria's best OD seamer, Vines seems to be favoured when 2 of Harris/Maddinson/Dean are out. Ayre has had a few good seasons for Essendon in grade cricket too.

Most of our changes I can see being on the rookie list. Ed Newman is gone, can't even nail down a district ones spot, Merlo is 50/50 at best and JFM will get promoted. Perry and Elliott have done enough to keep their contracts.

Brayden Stepien highly likely to get a contract.

My issue with the vics is Handscomb & Harris likely lose their national contracts, so already need another 2 list spots. Suspect the fringes may have to be trimmed

Handscomb is still around the ODI side so he is a chance to keep his contract. Plus, as it's been said, there's no hard limit on how many contracted players you can have. If Siddle and Tremain leave, that's a fair chunk you skim off the top.

Simon Milenko has opened up an Icon store in QLD
Handy depth with Gannon leaving. Steketee, Neser, Doggett, Milenko, Bartlett all look pretty solid

Any ideas when the contract lists for next season are announced? Usually are out around this time each year but I am guessing they might be pushed back a few weeks like the CA Contract lists

Early next month, according to this:

https://thewest.com.au/sport/cricke...jump-on-paceman-cameron-gannon-ng-b881541645z

Queenslander Cameron Gannon is set to call Western Australia home for at least the next three seasons, while fellow paceman Nathan Coulter-Nile has been told he won’t be offered another contract.

While he can’t officially put pen to paper until the state contract embargo period is over, which is ongoing due to the coronavirus pandemic, multiple industry sources told The West Australian that Gannon’s three-year deal is as good as done.

The 31-year-old had the best season of his decade-long domestic career last summer, claiming a competition-high 38 scalps at an average of 20.92 in eight Shield appearances for the Bulls, including two seven-wicket games against WA.

Gannon, who represented Queensland 30 times in first-class cricket, will add valuable experience and durability to the WA bowling attack as the State hunts its first Shield title in more than two decades.

The WACA, who will likely release their final men’s and women’s squads for season 2020-21 by early next month, were also in discussions with veteran Victorian and former Test seamer Peter Siddle before pulling out.

The team’s inability to take 20 wickets in a match was evident during the second half of the summer, slumping from second to fifth by season’s end.

Matthew Kelly led the inexperienced attack admirably but lacked support with Jason Behrendorff (back) missing the entire summer and Jhye Richardson in and out of the side due to off-season shoulder surgery and international duties.

Injury-prone left-armer Joel Paris finally had some luck after a frustrating period on the sidelines, producing some encouraging performances.

White-ball specialist Coulter-Nile has gone from a Cricket Australia contract to losing his place in the State squad in the space of 12 months.

He has represented Australia 60 times in limited-overs cricket, including last year’s 50-over World Cup in England, but hasn’t played at first-class since October, 2017, and all but shut the door on the longest form of the game last year.

It is understood the 32-year-old is weighing up his options whether to stay in WA and earn a contract upgrade through Marsh One-Day Cup appearances or try his luck interstate.

The right-arm speedster was one of several West Aussies to leave the Perth Scorchers last summer, signing a lucrative four-year deal with rival franchise Melbourne Stars.

The potential of reduced squad lists and pay cuts are currently being discussed between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers’ Association as the sport deals with the financial impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

Three WA players made the national contract list announced last week, Ashton Agar, Richardson and State captain Mitch Marsh.

Veteran Shaun Marsh, hulking all-rounder Marcus Stoinis and Coulter-Nile all lost their central contracts.

Gannon’s manager was contacted for comment but didn’t get back to The West Australian at the time of publication.

The article also mentions Tasmania are the front-runners for Siddle.

Although it also says Steve O'Keefe is a leg-spinner so the credibility of this staff writers fellow is a bit questionable.

The Victorians breath a sigh of relief.

I don't really subscribe to the whole 'didn't get opportunities in SA'. Firstly his average is horrible, secondly he's unavailable for basically half the season just look at how much FC cricket Alex Carey has played the last 2 seasons.

Glenn Maxwell Syndrome.
Seems like the worst thing you can do for your test prospects is get picked in the ODI side. Spend half the year playing meaningless matches.

When your average is nearly 50 with the ball after 40 games of Shield cricket, it's a bit much to blame your state for not getting opportunities
