So what has everyone got on for the loooooong weekend -happy dance-

My plans are:
- Sat: shop till I drop (this time I will due to this is it, the last weekend before the ball)
- Sun: recover from shopping & gym
- Mon: Seeing Gone Girl (finally)
- Tues: Pool or beach.
I forgot this is your 4-day weekend, Shell. Hope you have a great one!!
It's a long weekend? Not over here! :(

I take it you've got the Monday and Tuesday off. I'll be watching the race from work. At least they put on a feast for the Melbourne Cup and from lunch onwards we do stuff all.
thank goodness for everyone that you DON'T try and work after a big lunch (and drinks?)- imagine how everything would turn out!

Well my mum is staying with me for the weekend (she arrived last night) so my plans are something like this:
- Sat: Take mum to Chadstone Shopping centre for breakfast (first thing she asked me to do).
- Sun: See mum off. I'll probably do some maintenance on my car (fix the leak on the front right brake line, flush the power steering fluid, change over some old brake parts with new parts) and maybe give it a good wash + polish if the weather is good.
- Mon: Work most likely.
- Tues: So far I have a driving trip planned with a couple of friends. Here is the map:

Lovely to hear that you're going to take care of your Mum this weekend, Bots. Where is she coming from?

Definitely no drinks. Christmas break-up, yes. But Melbourne Cup, no! :(

Kitty's adopting people. Thought I'd just line up some more for her. I think she's getting the paperwork sorted for Strangled Cat , who appears to be her favourite. ;)

How's Perth treating you? Nice warm day to kick off your trip. :)
More on this . . . I have a gorgeous friend (my BBBFF's daughter, my BBBFF was killed in a plane crash when her daughter was three) who is 41, so I'd like to find her a hubby. She is just divine! Blonde hair, blue eyes, slim, intelligent, fantastic sense of humour, + she is available atm!

Hmm don't think it would force that much of a drop in speed as there would be an accident everyday in that spot.

Back in my home town they installed lights at one of the intersections I used to regularly take and when I came up to it for the first time I took it as I normally would and turned left on a full red :$
I was pulled over for speeding on Oxford Street, near my house + told I was doing 65 in a 50 zone  Anyway, I asked the policeman when it'd changed to 50 + he said about three years ago. I replied OMG! Thank goodness you pulled me over, I hadn't noticed, I'd been driving along Oxford Street since I was 17 + added, you better give me a ticket, because no one deserves one more than I lol + he let me off! WooHoo!

Do you think it's better than what was there before? Or do you tend to get a backlog of cars on the ramps? I haven't seen that scenario anywhere so find it difficult to see how it helps the flow. Guess I will soon find out :)

We've just lengthened the merging distance after the ramp I use to get onto the freeway and it's amazing to watch so many cars stop dead and try to merge as soon as they reach the bottom of the ramp, with 200m or more left until their lane runs out. I go past them in the merging lane and merge further up, which is smoother than what they're trying to do. They stop dead, the car next to them stops dead to let them in, and it banks up the cars behind them on the ramp as well as everyone in the freeway lane next to them....
I agree with the general concensus over here- that West Australians have no idea how to merge.
I'll raise you one Teri!
Another time, I was driving to Geelong, still in Sydney + a guy with very long trailer, attached to his ute kept trying to overtake at lights from the inside lane + no one let him in + he was screaming + swearing. My turn came to be the front car at the lights + he tried it again, I didn't let him in. By the third set of lights he'd totally lost it + inched his car to within mm of mine + was screaming. Lights changed + I took off, he was honking + screaming. We were sitting in traffic + he put his nose in front of my car to push over + was screaming "You have to give way to merging traffic you effing stupid campaigner!!!" + he kept pushing his car as close as he could. Next lights flash, siren sounds + out of the car behind me came two plain clothed police! WooHoo! The police driver, a woman, told him to get out of his car, came to me + asked if I was OK. The police man with her, slammed the road rage pr!** against a wall, searched him + cuffed him. Police woman asked me what I wanted done + I said "Please explain to him the difference between merging traffic + pushing in!" She said "Yeah, I'll start with that + BTW you handled him really well!"

Lol and you are more into it than me. Couldn't care less, will probably be in the pool when the race is on.
