Had to pass the exam by playing it, so did ok :) AND I love love love that Rachmaninoff concerto number 2. Would have loved to play that . HAve listened to it all day some times
Great driving music I have found. Many moods.

I tell you what though Yuja Wang missed a career as a proctologist. She has fingers like spider legs.

And that piece you posted was very tricky, and very enjoyable. You must be pretty hot on the old keys.

I heard and liked that 18th (?) Variation Rhapsody on a theme of Paganini years ago and bought a CD with that on it, and a whole lot of stuff including the 2nd. Hooked ever since. And I am listening to it again now.

The story goes (from Shine??) that Rachmaninoff wrote the 3rd trying to make it almost impossible for anyone else to play, cos he hands like tennis rackets.

You like the mysterious lady avatar? ok :) And what more do you need to know about me ? Be careful what you wish for .Nah, don't worry . I tease a lot, really And I don't play now . No piano
You gave up piano? I wish I could play but I have short fingers so I wouldn't be able to play well. It takes me longer to learn a song on the guitar because of this.

Many of the soldiers would've ended up with trench foot, too, Kitty- a lot worse than just getting cold feet or sand in your cossie (or 'togs' as I call them ;)).
Don't forget all the other lovely problems these blokes put up with- gastro, other illnesses and diseases, not to mention war wounds and the noise of the constant shelling..
That's what I meant! I can't stand those teensy-weensy little annoyances, yet they suffered all manner of horrors!!!

Thanks, allrighty. I actually googled it to see if there was any interpretation of it- didn't see the 'all by myself' bit because I got sidetracked in a discussion on world poverty and waste collection - lol- some group project that my son has spent hours on at Uni.

All the Unis now seem to have a 1st year engineering unit focusing on some 3rd world country's problem and how to solve it. Usually some sort of waste management- one son designed a product made from recyclable material, my second son is now designing a waste dump for a place in Cameroon. Hours and hours and hours of work- I'm sure you know how fascinating group work is. :)
Like us having to design a Bus Stop in Architecture lol I went berserk + added a disco floor for people to dance on because my bus stop was near Darlinghurst's Taylor Square lol + it was on the edge of a park, so I did holograms of famous sculpures + other arty-farty stuff + earned an HD lol
