In the future just have the Top 6 ranked Euro teams automatically qualify. Then let the rest play this qualification bullcrap. Imagine if England AND Italy didnt make it for example. Itd be a farce

One of the best midfields
Beckham/Bentley, Gerrard, Hargreaves, J Cole

and Rooney with admitadly some other hack up front (probably Owen if fit).

Oh yeah and some carrot of a goalkeeper (but you can get away with having a crap keeper).

I don;t care what anyone says, but that team would take on any pile of shit currently out in Austerland. Only Spain would mildly trouble England, and all they really have his a couple of great forwards.

Remember that old saying - Champion Team is better than Team of Champions. You can have all the best individuals but if they don't "click" as a team you're gonna have problems. It also appears that the situation in England camp is the "Too many chiefs and not enough Indinas" type with too many inflated egos running around.
In a way, not having either England, Scotland or Ireland at Euro makes it weird and you've gotta feeling that somethings missing, but hey, they didn't qualify.

I wouldnt say immense, good yes. Made some good blocks but was caught out of position a few times as was all the spanish defenders.

Since Spain really had no-one playing on the right he had to fill the void and compared to Capdevila he was always in more attacking positions so was bound to get caught out a few times which he did. The Russian guy who was playing on the left not sure if it was the left back or left mid, but he did a good job of getting in behind.

If only England were good value to watch but no, you were downright awful in Germany and you failed to beat the 2 sides you played that were any decent (although Germany only needed 20 minutes to completely destroy the Swedes).

I understand you're English and you're sad they're not there, but com'on, have a whinge somewhere else. My NT is not there either and to me they would lighten up the tournament as well (although they're absolute shit at the moment ). Russia were crap. The defence was absolutely woeful really. Did they actually lay one tackle on any of Spains players. Did they even attempt to make a tackle? Really poor effort from them. Carlton Cole would of scored a hattrick against a defence like that. Really dont remember a poorer defensive effort from a side this year

Guus clearly got his team selection wrong. Their centre backs had 16 combined caps, and looked completely out of their depth. In the first half hour, all of their attempted tackles on Torres and Villa resulted in clumsy fouls. They were skinned far too easily for Villa's goals. Their offside trap was sprung once, nearly again in the second half but Akinfeev (who played well and kept the scoreline respectable-ish) bailed them out.

I thought Senna's performance was immense. The coverage on Setanta summed it up: Did he give the ball away once?

He's an important player in the mix, as he allows Aragones to play two more attacking centre-mids in Xavi and Iniesta. Fabregas played well when coming on, but I'd still leave him on the bench for the Sweden game. Don't tinker with a winning formula.

Also, I was impressed with Capdevila's game. His stocks have risen massively in the past two or so seasons. Very accomplished-looking defender IMO.

my thoughts. I got the feeling that some teams forget that football is a TEAM game And they can only win as a team. So they should play like one !!

After watching the Spain - Russia game this morning I seriously doubt Spain will win Euro.
Sure, they are fantastic to watch and are an extremely good passing side, but Russia should have scored more than once. As Kompany said pre-tournament they can score plenty of goals, but they can concede plenty as well.

Russias defence was awful but I thought they showed some good intent and IMO will beat Greece and give Sweden a real run for their money.
