For the Greeks, (in a 5-4-1 formation) Nikopolidis in goal, Seitaridis, Dellas, Kyrgiakos, Antzas Torosidis across the back, Karagounis, Basinas, Katsouranis across the middle and Charisteas and Gekas upfront

For Sweden, (in a 4-1-3-2 formation) Isaakson in goal, Alexandersson, Mellberg, Hansson and Nilsson across the back, Svensson shielding the back four, Wilhelmsson, Andersson and Ljungberg attacking in the midfield, with H. Larsson and Ibrahimovic up front.

King Larsson appears to have lost that killer instinct he had during his magnificent career. On two occasions he tried to pass to Zlatan while being in better position himself. He should've had a shot at goal. I reckon he'll be replaced at half-time.

Don't be fooled people, Spain won their first match at the World Cup 4-0 and still flopped. I still would prefer to have money on their quarter final opponents.

I listened to most of the Greece-Sweden game, and it sounded like Sweden were average and Greece were bloody awful. Who the hell plays 5-4-1 nowadays?

Where does that leave England, I wonder...

Sour grapes anyone? :D
haha - well I like England but with the path you're going down - assuming wrongly again. (what was that thread you made about me)

my parents heritage is actually a country in Croatia's group.

and I don't care for Croatia much either as a football nation. World Cup was nice. :)

Villa snags another.. shit he's good.. pfff and people reckon iniesta is overated.. what a clever ball, sat and waited and released villa perfectly
haha - these Spanish players have perfected disappearing against the good teams in the big games.

as we saw against France in the last World Cup, they're just not a match for the big game, big name players from other countries.

lets not dance together about Spain until they actually beat someone decent in a major tournament.

Anyone here got any ties to any of the countries in Euro?

I found out about a year ago I have ties in Italy and Germany, but I'd rather follow Germany :) .

Germany (Dad was actually born there)
Poland (both sides mum+dad have Polish parents - although my grandmother from my mothers side isn't Polish.
and Portugal (my surname). although the plaque on the wall at my house says something about France. (I've never actually read it)
Mainly Poland though.

And I have Italian and Greek family but no direct links just people marrying people.

I think I've covered myself there.

Oh and I have lots of friends and family who support Liverpool. So Spain is like another country to me as well.

(I'm obviously just finding any link - so I'll win the thing)

Russia were crap. The defence was absolutely woeful really. Did they actually lay one tackle on any of Spains players. Did they even attempt to make a tackle? Really poor effort from them. Carlton Cole would of scored a hattrick against a defence like that. Really dont remember a poorer defensive effort from a side this year

Seriously, no actually I can;t be bothered. I'll just sound like a whinging pom.

OK I'll say it, some of the teams in this tournament are a f_u-c~king joke. UEFA needs to look at its qualifying procedure.

It has been cheapened with Englands absense

Nip,
England would have the best back four in the tournmant by far:
Richards, Ferdinand, Terry, Cole

One of the best midfields
Beckham/Bentley, Gerrard, Hargreaves, J Cole

and Rooney with admitadly some other hack up front (probably Owen if fit).

Oh yeah and some carrot of a goalkeeper (but you can get away with having a crap keeper).

I don;t care what anyone says, but that team would take on any pile of shit currently out in Austerland. Only Spain would mildly trouble England, and all they really have his a couple of great forwards.

Now I'm not saying anything more about f***ing England and the Euros (I thought I was over it until the f***ing thing started), but F*** me, that fat c*** Barnwick or whatever his name should of got the sack. What a C U N T!!

Your team was not good enough to even get past Russia in Qualifying, and you would have bombed at this tournament anyway.. if you think you would have had a chance just remember all the other International tournaments you have entered recently. Won any? Nope.. despite the fact your pathetic team was talked up by everybody pre-tournament.

You are just a jealous whinging Pom for suggesting England would only be troubled "mildly" by Spain and nobody else. Just because you have beaten world powerhouses in TEAM USA! and the mighty T & T doesn't make you the best in the world.

The whole notion of qualification should be buggered off with anyway. Especially for the big teams. They lose soooooooooooooooooooo much money by not having England there. In the future just have the Top 6 ranked Euro teams automatically qualify. Then let the rest play this qualification bullcrap. Imagine if England AND Italy didnt make it for example. Itd be a farce

My great Grandmother was Swedish. That is as close as I get really :)

My wife's family is Russian/German.

I'm following Turkey and Tuncay though :thumbsu::D

Mostly Irish heritage.

Was on the bandwagon in 2002. A shame they're not very good and didn't qualify.

Spain for me. For obvious reasons.

I like the crazy Dutch as well.

They wouldn't want it even if it was offered to them. There's no way they'd go two years without competitive football, it would leave them so exposed to battle-hardened teams and they'd rarely win.

As for England, I'm pretty sure I commented at the time that Russia was a pretty ordinary team. So how bloody ordinary must England be to not finish ahead of them?

difference being - England were the equal of Russia in Russia.

while in England the Russian team looked very second rate and were thrashed.

England looked the far better team and England are the far better team.

their fault that they're not there though.

Sharp stuff by Spain. Sergio had to pretty much play right midfield so thats why he played a poor game as he was also ment to be playing right back so he got caught out a few times. Villa's price just jumped a few mil. Torres was good but Iniesta and Xavi still missed some of his very good runs. Fabregas will have to stay warming the bench for a while and be content with coming on in the 50-80th minutes. Spain still look leaky in defence Puyol got mad a few times last night was pretty funny! Spain just walked about the last 30mins so i dont think you can judge much in that period.
