My first thought was, the only way that's onside is if he considers the Italian defender still in play. Which of course he was, as he took himself over the goal-line. Seems pretty clear to me, otherwise you'd just get defenders taking themselves off the pitch to play the attacker offside, and you can't have that.just watching netherlands ves. italy again...1st goooooooooal for oranje !!!!!!! the commentator knew the rule immidiately. that it doesnt matter if the italian player is in- or offside, it was correct.
