What a moment. Brrrrrr im excited! A win for football. Spain were clearly the best team through all the games, far technically superior and just a bunch of sweet dudes to boot!! Senna for player of the Euro's for me. Was outstanding in all the games he played and really helped steady the ship in a naturally attacking side.

Yep.

Senna was my player of the tournament too. Incredibly consistent throughout.

"Brilliant in Barcelona, Magical in Madrid, Lovely in Liverpool" - Motsons best shout of the tournament :thumbsu:

Good to see Spain finally breakthrough and win something.
they have what, one player who starts and plays about 70 minutes and wasn't one of his sides best half dozen players through the tournament.

but yeah! go Liverpool!

I kept thinking winning mentality might be the difference in this game, but it means nothing when the sheer footballing gap between two sides is so wide. Apart from a slightly nervous start and 10 minutes midway through the second half, it was a dominant performance. Germany's best chance was three minutes in when Ramos gave the ball to Klose - that was about as close as Germany came.

This always looked like Torres' day - he's at his best against slow defenders, and he was even able to get the better of them in the air. That was a sublime finish too and he could, perhaps should, have had one or two more. Senna, Xavi and Iniesta were all excellent too, and Capdevila has been their quiet achiever throughout the tournament. Podolski looked like Germany's most threatening player, but never really had enough of the ball - their midfield was smashed on the night.

There's no excuse now for Spain not to go on with this and be a serious contender in South Africa. It's a young team with lots of depth, and all they need to do now is find the right man to replace Aragones.

We were comprehensively outplayed, just one thing. Early on in the match a Spainish defender handballed inside his own box (Think it was Capdevila?) and a penalty should have been given IMO, he controlled it with his arm.

Mertesacker was probably our best, Metzelder was very poor I thought and his spot needs to come under consideration as we can't continually play those two as our central defenders as they are both lacking pace and I'd rather Per over Metzelder.

Torres had an excellent game, just one thing though, how weak is this guy? Falls over and sooks like a girl at the drop of a hat. Liverpool supporters, please don't bag Drogba for it again, because Torres is just as bad (That's not taking away from the fact he's a star player).

Anyway kudos to Spain, tactically they set up very well and we had extremely few chances. They were the best team of the tournament and fully deserved the win.

Now go back to choking in the semis god damn it :p .

Knowing Germany, wouldn't have been surprised if they nicked it. They're fantastic at performing way above their weight most of the time. Spain on the other hand, have a history of choking, although they were easily the best team throughout, you always had that nagging doubt about them

Good on them for winning something, long long long long long overdue with the talent they've had for generations. They must translate this into South Africa

On the topic of Torres: He's done the running and all the hard work this tournament instead of being the one at the end of it all at Liverpool. It's Villa who does that for Spain and Torres works his butt off game in game out, so it's not surprising that his goals have dried up, but you know that he was gonna score in the biggest game. Has had a very good habit of scoring important goals for the entire season.

I watched 5 minutes of it laying down in my bed and half asleep and I counted about 20 Spanish dives.

Platini needs to do something about it.

Far from weak. Consistenly muscles big defenders off the ball. Deceptively strong. And strong willed.

Not even close to being on Drogba's level. No-one is. The blokes a 6'4 (?) wall of chiselled muscle. He shouldn't be knocked over ever. It's nearly impossible.

Torres does play it up sometimes, a lot more in European Club Competition and National competition. So it's probably (definitely) a ploy, knowing that the refs will pay more.

But comparing him to Drogba's antics?

it's no better or worse.

the only difference is he plays for Liverpool and doesn't work out as often.

If Torres is so strong though, why the acting? If it is a ploy then he is effectively cheating.

Something needs to be done about faking injuries and diving, and I don't mean a pissy little 1 game ban. A 5 match ban and two weeks worth of wages would be more adequate (I'm not suggesting it for Torres from this morning, but introduce it next season, though we know the stupid frog Platini will do nothing  ).

It pisses me off no end watching, especially when it was against my team this morning. He had a fantastic game but there is no need for that shit as he did it all night.
