If Torres is so strong though, why the acting? If it is a ploy then he is effectively cheating.

Something needs to be done about faking injuries and diving, and I don't mean a pissy little 1 game ban. A 5 match ban and two weeks worth of wages would be more adequate (I'm not suggesting it for Torres from this morning, but introduce it next season, though we know the stupid frog Platini will do nothing  ).

It pisses me off no end watching, especially when it was against my team this morning. He had a fantastic game but there is no need for that shit as he did it all night.

Not sure why you've chosen to single him out. Happens in just about every game. In every league.

I can't remember a game this season (and fair to say I watched a few - I love the 5 games at once, that's ace) where I didn't see a fair bit of diving, play acting or injury faking. It's actually encouraged in many leagues around the world.

Are you denying Torres is one of the worst?

If you are, it's bias at its best :D

It does happen a fair bit, yes, but Torres, along with Drogba, is one of the main culprits, at least in the EPL that is.

Putting Torres in the same bracket as Drogba in terms of diving/acting is like putting Mike Tyson's wealth with Bill Gate's.

Not denying that Torres does all those things, but the only one in the same league as Drogba in acting is Ronaldo, Joe Cole and Arjen Robben
you're deluded Cooldude.

There's no excuse now for Spain not to go on with this and be a serious contender in South Africa. It's a young team with lots of depth, and all they need to do now is find the right man to replace Aragones.

I still think Argentina is the team to beat in 2010... Aguero, Tevez, Messi in 2 years will all be around their peak.. don't see many defences shuting that down.. Banega will have come on in central Midfield, Gonzalez will be a steading force in midfield being around 32 or so and Mash and Cambiasso in defensive mid will be ridiculous.. their back four shouldn't be too bad (can't think of who'll be there off the top of my head) and hopefully Ustari has come on and can play in goal...

I've already put your life savings on England winning it. :thumbsu:

My team of the Tournament:
------------- Casillas -------------
Ramos - Pepe - Puyol - V.Bronckhorst
------------- Senna ------------
Schweinsteiger - Fabregas - Ballack
------ Podolski ------- Villa --------

Subs: Buffon, Lahm, Marchena, Sneijder, Arshavin, Pavlyuchenko, Modric

Probably forgot someone.

has the euro 2008 team of the tournament been announced?

fatih terim has to be picked as the manager

I'd be surprised if Aragones wasn't tbh.

Be interesting to see who gets in the team.

Senna was the best player at the tournament, so he's a monty. Villa will get in, as the Golden Boot winner does, even though he didn't contribute much outside the group stage (not his own fault)

Xavi would probably get in. Sneijder was ace, he'd be in my team even though the Dutch bombed out.

Zhirkov was good, as was the other Russia full back Aniukov (sp?)

Iker should be in for sure. Arda Turan was exceptional.

Pranjic was very good at left back for a coverted attacking left winger.

van der Vaart had his moments too.

Ramos? Seriously? Lahm is a better right back than he is.

Fabregas? In the XI as well.

He had his moments, but he was nowhere near one of the best of the 08 class.

Maybe could have been if he played more.

The stars are all aligning. 64' Spain win in Spain - 66' England win in England - 08' Spain win 10' England win. It's gonna happen :p :) As long as the Aussies get there I'll be happy anyway :thumbsu:

Marchena was pretty good after a slow start. Had an absolute horror show of a domestic campaign didn't he?

Altintop was impressive from what I saw.

Marchena is a dirty dirty player. Good, but very cynical :) I'd have him in my side :thumbsu:

For Turkey Altintop was great as was Turan. Sneijder would have to make the side. My midfield would probably be
Senna
Turan Ballack Sneijder

But that would be harsh on the Spanish CM's who were superb as well.

Well Ramos showed absolutely nothing more than being a frailty at the back for Spain in this tournament. So much for being the best right back in the world.

I'd agree with you on his performance early in the tournament. Was a liability.

But did improve quite a bit as the tournament went on, and was a very important player in allowing them to set up as they did.

Senna
Turan Ballack Sneijder

I'd have those 4 as well I think, plus another in midfield. I don't think there were any real standout forwards other than Villa worthy of a spot.

Deco was decent until they got rolled over, probably didn't go far enough to grab himself a spot.

Bastian the pig mounter was good for Ze Germans too. He gets bonus points for batting way above his average in the female stakes. and I mean way, way, WAY above his average.

Torres had an excellent game, just one thing though, how weak is this guy? Falls over and sooks like a girl at the drop of a hat. Liverpool supporters, please don't bag Drogba for it again, because Torres is just as bad (That's not taking away from the fact he's a star player).

I know what you mean.

When we played liverpool this year, everytime i went near him he fell over. i didnt even touch him.

Diver.

You do know, he's not 'really' in the side as a defensive player?

He wasn't even that bad defensively, just out of position alot, as generally happens when you go bombing up forward as a right back.

He was superb on the ball, lacked a bit defensively, but Spain wouldn't have minded that seeing as though he was in there as an attacking full back.
