Is it true that Heritage Round is in rd 19 against Sydney? Meaning we will have to wear the EF guernsey again so as not to clash with their South Melbourne guernsey???

Not that I mind - in principle - seeing Freo in an EF guernsey... but it pees me off that we don't have a choice because of the AFL's blind fixturing. And considering that our original heritage guernsey is actually a Fremantle Football Club guensey (albeit a different FFC), then there is actually no South Fremantle presence at all (shut your traps you gummies supporters... :p).

And the EF guernsey "worked" because of the '70s theme in 2007. It may not be relevant in 2008, but we will be forced to wear it because of the clash. If they have to do it, maybe go the late 80s / early 90s hoops...

Personally, if we are playing an away game for heritage round, then I reckon we should wear the Ugly Green Monster...

I noticed there's a "Tom Wills" round. Is this heritage round? If so, get all the boys to shave their scalps, fall over when standing the mark and celebrate EVERYTHING with the aeroplane.

If heritage round is in round 19 we should wear the predominantly green original away jumper.

:D:D:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Hopefully they promote the absolute shit out of the Len Hall game. The atmosphere should be absolutely phenomenal if we can get a full house.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with that fixture. GABBA and SCG is obviously disappointing, but we finally get a break from the AFL's hilbilly experiments and the bulk of our melbourne games are A. winnable, and B. at the G, rather than Collo's monstrosity.

Opinions on here have been mixed but Today's West have put an interesting spin on our draw.

FREO'S DREAM DRAW

The AFL has given Fremantle a golden platform to launch an assault on a 2008 premiership after the fixtures were released yesterday, according to Collingwood premiership captain Tony Shaw.

The Dockers play 7 of their first 12 games at Subi, including rounds 2 to 4, pushing bookmakers to make them equal $10 second favourites behind Geelong ($3.30) to claim next years flag.

"People here believe they have a great list and the time is now, and that opinion will only streengthen when you analyse their draw." Shaw said.

Fremantle start pre-season training on Monday, with former Essendon utility Kepler Bradley expected to join in.

bookies must be working on the law of averages at this stage rather than any real football analysise...

Another quirk of our draw in 2008 is that we will play 9/10 Victorian teams at home (except Carlton) and only 1/4 non-Victorian team (Port Adelaide). I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not, but we've played Carlton and Adelaide a LOT in Perth in recent years. On the other hand, Brisbane and Sydney never seem to come here.

I wouldn't go so far as to call this a dream draw, but it's certainly a positive one. No ridiculous fixtures like in Tasmania or the Northern Territory. All games will be played at traditional grounds. I am not optimistic about winning in Sydney, Brisbane or Geelong, but we should do fairly well out of our trips to Melbourne and Adelaide. :thumbsu:

Ah Crap

That's never a good sign.

I was hoping for spoon favourites.

Yeah would have been good. I was enjoying the low profile we have had this off season.

Also I agree it is good to not have some crazy trips (darwin) but the league is pretty even and we love a pretty uneven (performance wise) team

I lol'd when i saw the back page today, it really is The Worst, anything they can do to make any potential failure next year look even worse, I mean according to them the AFL has basically handed us the Premiership on a platter.

Good draw, yes, dream draw? Hardly!

Bigfooty while it is a wealth of information..For some reason is rarely on the money when it comes actually to football.

70% of posters would not have had Geelong top 4.

90% would not have had them top 2.

I agree. I couldn't trust most of the info on there with a grain of salt. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

Sydney and Brisbane away again :thumbsd:

Cant they come here FFS??

Is it too early to call a Brissy win for this one?

How about we just go there to play, rather than looking like we go there for a bit of warm weather, sunshine and movie world....ohh and a game of football
