subbed for potential.

hoping for grigg at 30.

Anything is a chance really. One bonus of the reverse top 10 is we are the 2nd pick twice in a row. Won't need to wait long to find out our players. Going to be interesting what names are called out at 10,9 and 8. Those should give away the rest of the top 10 pretty much.

Given Longer will probably be the defining pick of the top 10, I can see AFL asking GWS to let him slide to 11 if he slid to 9 just to amp up a tiny bit of interest.

Hey mate, we're pick 8, so we're the 3rd pick called (10, 9, 8)... but yeah, not long to wait.

Would much rather wait the 8 and be able to calculate it though, rather than hear who we got and spend the next minute trying to figure out what the higher picks would've been... hate the stupid countdown.

My reasoning for wanting Greene so much is my view that he really is a player who could and probably would become an elite midfielder at AFL level. While we do have a few others who could take over from Black if needed, I doubt if any of them could do it as well as Greene could.

Very happy that Huddo is heading the coverage tonight. He was wasted on Ten.

please no talls with first 2 picks please no talls with first 2 picks please no talls with first 2 picks etc etc :D

I can count, really i can :o

I would still much prefer the normal order, just trying to salvage what i can from the pointless reverse top 10. I just don't understand why they don't try something else. Americans have mastered the draft with their sports, and they don't do a stupid reverse top 10. We would be better off doing normal order, and doing a jumper presentation for each pick as it happens if they want to make a big deal out of it.

It's all good mate - we all make fencepost errors occasionally.

I like that idea - something simple like giving them a jersey. Tasteful, symbolic... not a pain in the @$$ for everyone following along.

Just want to add my own dismay at the utter, utter, dim-witted and contrived stupidity that is the reverse order call of the top 10 picks.

How the morons think that it's in any way "good" is beyond my comprehension.

The only thing I can think that it's "good" for, is to totally ruin the suspense:thumbsd:

I can see why they like the idea of a reverse countdown, and can even see how it could be considered a good idea in normal draft years. When one team has the top 5 picks, though, it's completely pointless. There's no drama or suspense about who could go at pick 1 at all, because it really doesn't matter. Definitely should've been dropped for this year.

I know what you mean, and I can see what they're trying to do... make is so that as it gets closer to one, there's more suspense. But the big suspense in a regular year's countdown is at number 2, and 1 is a sure thing... counterproductive really, whereas a countup has suspense at every pick...

With the reverse count down you lose that real time feel for what's happening. It's a bit like arriving at a movie 15 minutes late and having someone fill you in.

For example, last year we were tossing up between Polec and Heppell, but the reality of that decision making process was lost because we already knew Heppell was gone.

Yup it feels really staged

What time does the draft coverage start on afl.com.au Queensland time(the actual draft as in the picks)? Is it 5:00pm? 6pm NSW time? or 6pm Queensland, 7pm NSW?

If they announced the ENTIRE draft count in reverse, now that would be ok, and rife with suspense as per doing it the regular way.

But only the top 10 in reverse? Stupid as hell.

Exactly Grim. They are trying to build suspense as to who the #1 draft pick will be as if it's a big bloody mystery to everyone. Every year, no matter who has the #1 pick, you pretty much know before it happens. There just isn't a need to do the reverse order. There is more suspense in seeing how players slide during normal order. They seriously need to have a good hard look at how the Americans are doing it.

Just watched the Nick Haynes video. Was actually quite impressed.

Reads the play really well, one touch, brings teammates into the game, tackles like a machine.

He's not quick though.

Can we get another 'we're drafting him so get used to it' speech this year BD, ala Dyson Heppel last year? :p

More like being told "Who Dunnit" at the opening credits.............

I can't for the life of me understand why they think it is a good idea.

The AFL blatantly copy/steal/mimic what the NFL do, and then they go and do this to the Draft !!!!

:(:confused::mad:......:thumbsd::thumbsd::thumbsd:
