and an underrated utility.

Lots of faith shown in our current developing midfielders. Beams, Green and Harwood.

I'd say thats about right, I still cant help feeling we should have gone for a tall defender. Screw you Gold Coast. Seem to be stocking up the defence for the future. One of those defenders will be Ash McGrath's replacement.

Both of Docherty and Yeo can go through the middle in the future as well. Seems to me like we've added some strength to our rucks, as well as a bit of class and polish with some skillful players. Beams, Harwood and Bartlett still to add some grunt to our midfield

Plenty if we want to use them, I think. Only have four (?) on our rookie list, so three free slots.

Wonder if it was a bit of spite from GWS to take Greene, Adams AND Sumner at 9, 10, 11 after we snatched Longer from them at 8? Jeez, how many midfielders can they possibly need?!? They took the three remaining mids who we would've taken one of at 12 and they know it.

We were slitting our wrists when we overlooked Lucy and Cousins and Josh Thomas and Thorp etc etc.

I'd trust our recruiters over any casual observer.

12- Sam Docherty - running defender with penetrating kick
29- Jordan Lisle - Tall KPP forward/defender with 3 years development under the belt
30- Elliot Yeo - supremely athletic defender/wingman
34- Dayne Zorko - talented mature small forward/mid with x-factor
47- Patrick Weardon - 191cm utility, solid skills and athleticism
70- Ben Hudson - mature ruck insurance

Pretty handy intake so far with the rookie draft to come.

I wouldnt at all be surprised if Hudson plays more than a few games for the Lions next year

Weardon is probably the interesting pick of the bunch. Doesn't seem to fit the kind of player we would target after getting 2 like him last year. He very well could be a bit of a 'best available' type selection. 191cm isn't short, but it's not tall, at least not for a KPP, so it will be interesting to see what we think of him and where we see him playing.

Excited about Yeo, he is the kind of player we need, combine him with Docherty and Hanely coming from the HB line, and Polec and Yeo on either wing and it gets pretty mouth watering. Some very nice skills in those 4 kicking the ball forward.

There is a difference between being somewhat unsure about our selections and cracking the shits entirely. Surely Graeme Hadley has enough credit in the bank to sway us from the latter.

At the end of the day, we arent the ones who have watched hundreds of hours of junior football in the last year. Recruiters also have to factor in how good these players will be in 5 years time, not just how good they look on youtube now.

Not at all. Recruiters are there only to get the best player that suits their club at every pick, would be some very pissed off coaches if recruiters were taking players just to spite another team.

I guess too many question marks in there. However if we want to go tall in the Rookie Draft, there are still some options there.

Also after another year, we should know whether Cornelius, Retzlaff and McKeever are likely to cut it. Can better plan then.

I think this! I think GWS tried to sneak the extra mid in at 7 thinking we'd take tomlinson at 8 leaving them Longer. Snakey move by GWS, but we bit them on the tale tonight

True true. The voice of reason. I'm just a little sad we didn't come away with any of those super classy mids we've been licking our lips about for so long. I want somebody to blame...and it's Gubby! Ha
