Pretty sure we talked about Whitfield recently but the reason he's tipped to go at number one is because he's not a great all round midfielder...he's a brilliant one. Does everything seriously well.
I'm happy to go Viney, Wines, Kennedy/Vlastuin/Stringer and maybe someone like Nick Graham with our second rounder.
If Viney gets through and we go 2x mids at 3&4, what are people's thoughts on Jaksch or Shaw at P13? I'm not sold on our KPP depth and particularly Jaksch gives us some nice flexibility being able to play at either end.

Agree with this. If we draft a forward at 13 i want Membrey over Jaksch and Shaw ainec.

I'm not sold on Membrey. Plays as a tall forward but at 6 foot 2...I dunno.

From that same draft, the last time we had a pick 13 and used it on a forward...some guy we call 'Master'.
But I look like the look of someone like Shaw because he's a very good size but not a big size enough so that he dominates through being so much bigger than everyone, a la Tom Hawkins. (Who came good anyway...)
Yeah but the guy is so strong and clean around the knees that he'll probably develop into a really good mid once he gets his fitness levels up.

Dunn, Bate, etc always played as flanker types - Membrey's similarly to Darling.
I don't think he impact games significantly, that's why I'm not sold on him.
He has great skill, great endurance, great speed and general athleticism... has an okay inside game.
He may well go at one but I definitely believe he won't be the best player from this draft.

Just a bit iffy on the idea of using pick 13 on someone the size of a medium forward. Although he does play much taller that 188 cm, he's going to end up playing on defenders a lot taller who'll negate his marking abilities comfortably, IMO.

He'll go number one. If not, number two. Zero doubt on that. Simply the best performing midfielder in the juniors thus far. And his inside game will improve yet.

I see Membrey turning into a midfielder actually, he's easily mobile enough to.
Sure, Whitfield will go number one - I'm just not sure that I'd pick him there personally.
I'm sure he'll be a good player, like a Gibbs or Dal Santo - but not sure he'll be the best of this draft.

I'm about 6'2 and Dunn was a fair bit taller than me when I ran into him at the G one day. He's certainly tall enough to be the player he isn't.

Currently watching Grundy in the SANFL u18 GF - 14 disposals, 29 hit outs, 2 goals, 5 marks, 6 clearances to 3/4 time.

IIRC he ended up with 18 disposals, 38 hitouts and 2.1 - he was pretty impressive, his defensive efforts especially were great.
Smart reader of the ball up forward and has a bit of aggro - really mobile for a 18 year old ruck.
Still a bit rough around the edges, so I decided to have a look at Naitanui's work as an 18 year old - Grundy seems to be further ahead, in terms of his coordination and his game sense.
McDonough and Appleton were very impressive as well, with the latter having 15+ clearances as a fairly light bodied player - has great strength over the ball and good lateral movement.
Both would be an option in the 25-50 range I'd say.
