Grundy, even if available, won't be a Dee IMO.

Resigning Spencer and getting Dawes and Pedersen probably confirms that.

But GWS will take him at 2 or 3... Giles isn't a long term player for them.

I guess my point is, why should our recruiting department based recruiting decisions on the media/accepted rankings of players?

They wouldn't mate, not in a million years. But these media rankings are generally pretty close to the mark anyway. If Simpson was someone they thought was an 8-10 type of pick then I wouldn't think it was far off, but it seems he is further down the field in the eyes of many and think it would be a big reach to select him.

It is interesting how keen people seem to be with selecting Oliver Wines while tending to overlook other players
who may better complement our midfield as a point of difference. Especially as Wines appears to play not unlike Jack Viney. Having watched the highlights reel of Jackson Macrae he would be the one I would take at pick 4. He is a tallish left footed midfielder in the ilk of a Pendlebury. Seems to find plenty of space in heavy traffic and is a great user of the pill.

Have a good look at his highlights package. Very impressive indeed.

Personally, I'd take Macrae if Wines wasn't available.

However - Wines is a complete midfielder, it wouldn't be a smart move to pass him up ... even more so that he's a big Melbourne supporter.

Well, I remember Simpson pinning Wines for holding the ball.... and not a chase down either, front on tackle.

I doubt Neeld's going to reject players just because they're skinny - that would be absurd.

We have an excess of skinny kids. So I could understand trying to move away from that route.

Agree.. tough as nails mid who is also well rounded.. exactly what we need and he and Viney will form a ferocious combo.. exciting times

He's a key forward, don't think with Clark/Dawes and Hogan coming in that I see room for Jake.

Only played forward post broken leg, up until then was a big bodied mid fielder.

Stringer is definitely a mid - played up forward early this year when his endurance was well below even a passable standard.

Read an article on the A.F.L website, he looks like a big boy, apparently a tough nutt. Wouldn't mind him and Viney Smashing it out in the centre with Jones, but would still probably prefer Wines.. But he would also slot in nicely.

Looks good.. He and wines are both workman like, big bodies.. I am still a little concerned about our pace.. Has Viney, Wines or Stringer got 'a bit of toe' about them??
