I really Like this draw, we look to build heaps of momentum from round 6-18 we should be looking to only lose three games at most so even if we start 2-3 we'll come out the other side 11-6

then with that momentum we should be able to win 3 of the last 5 game bringing us to 14 wins

Also the new fixture rules were designed I reckon to prevent last year where we finished 8th with 14 wins, 12 should be enough this year

but gee, those last 5 weeks are tough.. I fear it could be a situation like last year where we use up all our effort on that stretch and come finals time we are absolutely buggered

anyone know when the long weekends are next year? and who we play on the long weekend?

Freaked out on first read, but based on this year's results and a little more natural improvement, we shouldn't be too worried about playing the Cats, Crows and Pies twice.
Yeah that's kind of where I'm coming from... can't say I'm confident about all of those, but at least we know we can beat them.

Six games this year against sides we couldn't beat in 2012. And it pains me to include one of them:

Sydney
WCE
Freo
Hawthorn x 2
Port

I actually really like this draw

Me too. Up with the big boys.

Personally disappointed to play the Pies twice - once is bad enough - but it's great for the club's exposure and the boys' development.

Exactly, if we are good enough the fixture won't matter, really looking forward to next season now.

well afl.com.au has declared we have the toughest draw, the age says second toughest.

For a team that just made it into 8th, we are going to have a challenging 2013.

We are going to earn that finals spot next year. Eight 6 day breaks could be trouble though...

Good draw. In terms of getting a membership an 11 home plus 4 away game membership will get you access to

Rd 1 Collingwood Easter home
Rd 2 Geelong Etihad away
Rd 5 Hawks MCG away
Rd 9 Adelaide Etihad home
Rd 10 Saints Etihad home
Rd 15 Richmond Etihad Saturday home
Rd 17 Carlton Friday night again home
Rd 19 Geelong Friday night home
Rd 21 Essendon Etihad away
Rd 22 Hawthorn home Etihad
Rd 23 Collingwood G Friday night or Saturday night away
Thats 11 quality games in melbourne with access to. The other games in melbourne are against Brisbane, GWS, Demons and dogs all at Etihad.

Only downside is we have to wait until round 21 to stick it up the filth from Tulla.

bring it on , improving side expect some in the 8 to drop, we'll be right in it...**** em all... go rooboys...

Bit rough, make the 8 and suddenly the afl wants us to earn our spot :P O well this year will show what the boys are made of. Need to make sure we rotate our team between 6-18 so we dont burn out like this year going into finals.

Toughest draw out of anyone for mine- Most travelling for a Melbourne based team, most interstate games for a melbourne team (I believe) play against the highest winning percentage of total of teams. most 6 day breaks, most games against top 4 teams, most games against top 8 teams and only get to play gc/gws once each.

Eh surely we can do it...didn't lose any best 22 players in the off-season and may have gained best 22 in Gysberts, first round pick and maybe Ben Jacobs if we get him in National/PSD draft.

With the likes of McKenzie, Black, majak, mullett and a few others stepping up next year we should push forward

Agreed Drew23, if we don't want to be considered among the Melbournes and Bulldogs of the competition anymore this is the perfect draw to prove ourselves. Big crowds and hopefully some big wins against power teams. Bring it on.

Has anyone found the break down of free to air and Foxtel??

Tough draw for sure. Not happy about so many Sunday games either (against good opposition where i'd normally like to fly over, but I won't for Sunday games) but was to be expected knowing the AFL.

Certainly better from a financial perspective though if we do well so I guess it's up the team to take another step forward. Play inconsistently like we did this year and we won't make the finals with this draw - play like we did in that patch of form, and we should be good enough.

Rohan C on SEN has said that North has
the second hardest draw - the highest number of 6 days breaks. Essendon have another soft draw like 2010.

Playing the 2 WA teams only once, but both in Perth is pretty rough. Thankfully the great lord Vlad spared us from a 10/10 reaming by changing a couple of our regular Sunday brunch games to Friday night..... 3 Friday night games???? Blow me over with a feather :p

Anyway it's a terrific fixture for our exposure next season, so long as we're not exposed ;)

F*** em. When we make finals next year there will be ZERO talk of our easy ride in. Heaps of big games so more FTA than recent times - embrace it!

EDIT - 9 FTA vs 8 last year :(

Carl = 17 (WTF?)
Ess = 15
Coll = 13
Rich = 11
Stk = 9
Melb = 8
WB = 7
Port = 4 (poor f***ers)

Need more depth and player rotation/list management have more confidence in emerging players and I think we will be ok

Definitely a tougher draw, especially to start with. But if we're to keep improving then this is the perfect way to do it. Beat tough sides, make the finals.

3 x Friday nights, fantastic news that good results are getting some reward. This is great for NMFC. The bottom sides who are missing out, well suck eggs. Time to get a taste of what we've had to deal with over the last 5 years, without ever being super bad.

Good to see the negativity crew in full swing. :rolleyes:

This is an unreal draw. Three Friday night games.

Back on the big stage where we belong baby!

Looks a tough draw, but it really isn't. We have three bogey teams - Hawthorn, Sydney, WCE - and only play Hawthorn twice. We should have zero fears in facing Collingwood, Geelong, and Adelaide twice. If we're good enough, we'll make finals. To be the best you gotta beat the best. Etc etc.

Would've loved a return fixture against Essendon but you can't win them all.
