So to get the appropriate picks/funds to gain O'Meara, Hawthorn have given up/going to give up:

First Round Pick
Second Round Pick
Brad Hill
Sam Mitchell
Jordan Lewis
Billy Hartung
Brendan Whitecross

Really?????
The Minnestoa Vikings back in the day sold the farm to get Herschel Walker from the Dallas Cowboys.

This is what they did
VIKINGS GOT:
  • RB Herschel Walker
  • Dallas's 3rd round pick – 1990 (54) (Mike Jones)
  • Dallas's 5th round pick – 1990 (116) (Reggie Thornton)
  • Dallas's 10th round pick – 1990 (249) (Pat Newman)
  • Dallas's 3rd round pick – 1991 (68) (Jake Reed)

COWBOYS GOT:
Hawks not quite the crazy Viking yet - but they are damn close.

Oh yeah and Walker was a bust for the Vikings.

Emmitt Smith became the Cowboys all time Running back and won 3 Superbowls. Alvin Harper became the #2 receiver to Michael Irvin
Darren Woodson became one of the NFL's great corner's over a 20 year career.

Safe to say the Viking gagged on that one.

Heres hoping the Hawks do the same.

who traded all those future picks..Kevin Costner? One look at that and you can see why they have limits on our system.
Conditional? dependant on finishing position?

Are the Hawks clearing cap space to make a play for Rockliff? Or maybe loading up for Fyfe next season? I just can't make sense of what they're doing. The moves they have made this trade period seem completely inexplicable on the face of it.
I agree, I suspect they're up to something. Hawthorn are always canny players in the trade wars.

Deledio deal has been canned guys, its pretty obvious, let him stay at that rabble for another year then next year they can get nothing for him when he walks out the door. Tuohy deal also looks to be heading same way...greedy bloody clubs wanting way overs for players is ridiculous.

Tigers have ****** themselves here.
Goodluck getting Lids to sign for a high deal next year.

He will walk and do therm no favours getting out the door -not to mention his lack of effort coming up this year.

Your figures of numbers played show you think he will only continue playing AFL for two years tops

If we get Deledio and a second round pick and then on trade that for touhey then we have filled 2 massive problems
Within our team.
Get it done
Yep. I think he's got 2 years left max.

Tuohy is out of contract. Carlton take what we offer, within reason. I say give them a R2. Our R2 is 38, that should be enough, otherwise trade next year's R2.

Assuming we trade our 2017 R2 to carlton, package 38 with 43 (kersten) for one of Brisbane or GC's early R2 picks (#22 - 25) and pass that on to Tigers for Lids.

Keep Caddy.

Then trade Vardy for a R3 and we have two picks in the 40s and one in the 50s to take to the draft.

The best thing a about the Deledio deal going cold is Richmond wears the injury risk for 2017. If he comes good, we can make a play at him as a free agent with more confidence his body is OK for 2018-19. If he fails we haven't lost anything and have no obligation to look at him as FA end 2017.

And yes, you can see why the AFL put the limits on future picks.

The Redskins did a similar , but not as bad overall, deal for RGIII -gave up 3 Rd1 picks and a Rd2.

BUST...

Just a mess.

It may still go thru but it wont involve Caddy and it wont have a high pick.

Balmey is smart enough to know how to thump the chest and hold his ground but he also knows an untenable position when he sees one.

I just hope we haven't burnt any bridges with Caddy for agreeing to let him leave even though it never happened.

I dont think it will, we needed to clear cap space to get him in which Caddy would have done, cant afford him if its a draft pick.

Last year we were after geary (saints) yeah? 2E is a better runner than him.
Carlton should take billie and a pick prob second rounder.

Woundnt mind a younger player like Cole or bonner but that won't happen.
I'd prefer to keep Billie, I still have faith that he will be a good player if Scott plays him forward like he is supposed to be played.

Geelong have to hold firm. Wait them out.
