On that same link, the very same page and posted one hour apart:

COME ON PEOPLE! GFC are quality operators, there's is no way we'd trade out a contracted Caddy for pick 24 or 27. Gee whiz.

And... Reading between the lines (and for the conspiracy theorists) ... For Wells to get permission to offer our third 1st pick in three years from the AFL, then maybe this was set up so that the GFC get a first round pick this year through the the GWS, Deledio, Caddy deal.

Same here cant see it happening at all... He just brought a house not long ago here, and lets be honest who would honestly want to play for the tigers over us.
It's more that I don't think we need to make what would essentially be a panic trade trade for a first rounder, and I don't think the club is that stupid. There is no need to give up Caddy right now for any reason, unless complete insanity is a reason.

I'm disappointed they've used 2017 draft picks for Tuohy, but it's done now.... or will be tomorrow.

I just hope they don't think that replacing Enright with Tuohy is going to solve everything.
We need run and we need youth in our defence, which is why IMO Thurlow, Bews and Kolodjashnij have to play down there for the majority if not all year.

If that means forcing out guys like Mackie then so be it.
Mackie is done. COOKED!

Mostly right the 5th time 5 minutes before it's about to drop after they have predicted it wrongly 4 times. Look at how many journos have had Deledio to do Geelong for months. Most of their speculation is wrong. Even Mark Stevens admitted (unwittingly) in his own tweet today that he is just guessing. You guys shouldnt buy it.
Nope. And the Deledio to Geelong speculation wasn't baseless at all. The clubs had discussions. So, once again, the journalists were correct. But let's go through the 2016 trade period, shall we?

Brad Hill to Freo: trade possibility first reported on months ago.
Jack Steele to St Kilda: trade possibility first reported on weeks ago.
Sam Mitchell to West Coast: story broken days before trade went through.
Tom Mitchell to Hawthorn: trade possibility first reported on months ago.
Jordan Lewis to Melbourne: story broken days before trade went through.
Pearce Hanley to Gold Coast: story broken last week.
Dion Prestia to Richmond: story broken months ago.
Toby Nankevis to Richmond: story broken this week.
Joel Hamling to Fremantle: story broken not long after Grand Final.
Cameron McCarthy to Fremantle: story broken literally over a year ago.

None of these stories dropped 5 minutes before the trade went through. Yes, it's true that some of them the media found out only through "formal" channels when the player's trade request was released to the club website, but still, nearly all of these links were being reported on by journalists well before the trades went through and most of them were reported before trade requests were lodged or the relevant player agents had spoken publicly about the possibility of any move occurring.

Cats set to nab Irish Blue, utility to head the other way

Peter Ryan October 19, 2016 5:09 PM

CARLTON will secure unlucky Geelong utility Billie Smedts as part of a deal to send Zach Tuohy to the Cats.

Geelong will hand over its future first-round selection while Carlton will give back its future second-round pick to complete the deal on Friday.

The Cats had to apply to the AFL for permission to trade their future first-round selection during this year's NAB AFL Trade Period, as they had already traded this year's first-round pick as part of the 2015 deal that landed ex-Carlton defender Lachie Henderson.

Under the rules, clubs are restricted in their trading of future first-round picks to ensure they make two first round selections at the NAB AFL Draft within a four-year period.

However, clubs were reminded the AFL would consider applications to vary the requirements.

Smedts, 24, has had an unfortunate run with injury in recent seasons, breaking his leg twice and having a shoulder reconstruction, which restricted his capacity to show his talent.

He played 38 games for the Cats after being pick No.15 in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft, showing his quality in his first two years before injury struck and hampered several pre-seasons.

The Cats recontracted Smedts at the start of last season as they saw his maturity, but a broken leg in the VFL in round 11 gave him no chance of building into the season.

Tuohy, 26, has been a sturdy defender at the Blues after being recruited from Ireland.

He has played 120 games for Carlton and will add run to the Cats' defence.

Named in the AFL Coaches Team of the Year in 2015, Tuohy requested a trade to the Cats at the start of the NAB AFL Trade Period.

You really missed the entire point of what I was saying but anyway thats fine. Probably best we discuss it elsewhere I of all people shouldn't be clogging up a thread with off topic discussion.

Have you actually digested the 2E trade?
Don't include smedts in it as he is worth peanuts..
Blues will be bottom 4, prob bottom 2 when they lose Gibbs, we will be top 6. Therefore 2E trade works out to around pick 40!
I actually had hope for Smedts though. Was hoping he might help us next year. ( I know I'm in the minority)
Still think it's a not a bad trade though.

I honesty think this is a super trade.
We give up IMO Pick 18 as I think we are about there with a little luck.
At worst it will be Pick 15.
Whilst I think Carlton are a bottom four side.
Even a bottom two side if Gibbs walks out the door.
So I can see in 2017 we will have...
Pick 18
And Carlton will have...
Pick 20
Bloody good trade IMO.
Great Job Cats!

Who the F is Emma Quayle?

Is she the new Caroline Wilson?
They can both fn p1$$ off
She's generally on the money, and isn't prone to dribbling shit. Which is some cause for concern for mine.

If Wells can work some last minute magic to get JOM down to the Cats I'd be thrilled with that.
Tipping all that will happen is Caddy to the tigers for whatever pick we get. stealing JOM from under the Hawks nose would be almost as good as beating them in a GF.
