I'm in the same boat.

On Day 1 of the trade period Wells said we'd struggle to do the Deledio deal because we didn't have currency and wouldn't trade required players.

Don't know how we've gone from that to potentially trading a contracted Caddy for pick 27, and not even landing Deledio.
He said we wouldn't push players out, not that we wouldn't trade required players. Obviously Caddy is interested in joining the Tigers, which seemingly has a lot to do with Prestia.

Taken me a while to read thru this after being out when the trade news dropped...

If you rate 2e , one could probably say the trade is reasonable .. the things that come to mind..

The past is no perfect predictor for the future. So 2e being resilient is little reassurance to me. Historically his games to Smedts is no comparison.

Trading out R1 again.. why are we so attuned to leveraging our future.

The basis of doing this trade is that we will be a top 4 side and Carlton will not play finals..although we would hope we win the flag and they finish bottom so its 18 and 19 ..Id say a more reasonable expectation would be 14 and 26. It is not beyond the bound of possibility for that it goes pear shaped. Finish out of the 8 , Carlton improves .. it could be 8 and 28. Carlton beat us in 16.

Our fixture will be harder and I have no current confidence we will be obviously better. We lose Enright, Bartel and maybe Caddy and bring in 2e.

So in the end nonplused about the trade... but then I didn't want 2e. If it was a player I liked for Smedts or an early pick this year Id probably be happier.

Salary cap?? We just lost 4 players.

Deledio will only be on 500k at GWS too apparently.

We could have afforded that.
Yep......it's staggering we haven't been in the mix with any possible trade given the amount of money we must have available.
Wells and co must be still giving them a lick 12 months later over Dangerfield, and forgot to come up for air

I'm unsure on this one, I really rate Touhy and i think having him in the side crosses out Mackies position as our rebounder. Our backline looks to make a whole lot more sense;

FB - Bews, Taylor, Kolo
CHB - Thurlow, Hendo, Touhy

I'm sure that we would rotate a mid like Guthrie back there too. This is also assuming Lonners will retire which might not actually happen given Delaney is gone and Gardiner is as fresh as they come.

HOWEVER, how long can we continuously trade out our future till it all turns to shit. We've done well to bring the players in but you can see the players that formed the core of the group just aren't hitting their straps. His inclusion will mean nothing if we can't get blokes like Blicavs, Guthrie, Duncan, Caddy and co to show up every week.

Yet Wells was quoted today as saying we had cap issues re. Deledio.

I don't get it..

I agree - losing Bartel, Enright, Kersten, Vardy and Smedts should be enough to accomodate both Tuohy and Caddy. I just don't see any other reason we'd do such a trade. Really hoping the journalist mail is wrong.

I'm disappointed they've used 2017 draft picks for Tuohy, but it's done now.... or will be tomorrow.

I just hope they don't think that replacing Enright with Tuohy is going to solve everything.
We need run and we need youth in our defence, which is why IMO Thurlow, Bews and Kolodjashnij have to play down there for the majority if not all year.

If that means forcing out guys like Mackie then so be it.
Think you will find that Mackie is either vfl or retired. Don't think he is a part of premiership plans.

Caddy is contracted.......he stays! End of story.
He'll do as he's told.....he owes us, he's not gone up a level, and yet we've afforded him every opportunity

If we get pick 24 or 27 surely there has to be a player attached to the deal.
Maybe a Lennon? Don't really want him.

Or most likely picks 24 & 27 with the cats passing back pick 38 or 40 & Caddy.

Either way anything under a R1 pick for Caddy is unders.

We lose Enright, Bartel, Kersten, Vardy, Clark, Caddy, Smedts and maybe Loners. All top 30 players.

Draw I'm not fussed on b/c we played Adel, GWS, and WB twice last year as it worked out.

He have no depth anymore and are a key inj away from missing the 8. As it was we were one game off 7th or one shot on the siren away from a straight sets exit.

I'd be happy with that, means Guthrie can play more midfield too.

So we're looking at...

Bartel, Enright, Kersten, Vardy and Smedts out with Caddy also possibly following and Clark presumably too.

With Tuohy in.

And no first round pick this year or next.

I'd anticipated attempting to top up to win a flag but I'm not seeing improvement
