We dont have the salary he would get elsewhere...
The biggest problem with Fyfe will be that I think it's likely that Fremantle match a bid meaning you are going to need currency in order to land him. I don't think there is any realistic prospect we would.

before last year the club locked in a number of player contracts so they could find the space to get the 4 players we did, no surprise we dont have any cap left...

You missed the point. We have cap space, we have to, to be able to bring the list spots up to the required amount.

But we had deals for Kersten and Vardy ready if they chose to stay?
And there was no certainty about Enright until late, they needed to factor in Bartel playing on too....
But we supposedly came into this trade period knowing we have to shed Kersten, Vardy, and a best 22 player in addition to Enright retiring and Jimmy pulling the plug just to stay under the cap when we bought in just Tuohy?

I find that very hard to believe. And if it is the case, it's a pretty worrying way of operating.

We will be taking a few ppl at the draft as their salary is not a lot to bring the minimum players which is either 36 or 38 on our list, so their is some money but not a lot and off loading Caddy makes it easier for Cook to negotiate the contracts...

We dont really need him anyway.. We cant spend all the cap on the midfield, that would be a little insane in my view..lol

Why would Caddy even entertain a move to the Tigers?

Just to play with his mate and get a few extra $$$?

Be a big fish in a little pond?

It's like Bill Wyman wanting to play lead guitar in Herman's Hermits.
i bet they offered him more money and decided to stay, then they probabaly upped the cash offer which might get him across to tigerland (land of the dead)..

"Whether we're able to do that or not … he's expressed an interest in coming to Richmond but equally he understands he's contracted to Geelong for a couple more years and reasonably happy there as well.
"Watch this space over the next 24 hours."

Interesting that Dan Richardson used the words "reasonably happy" instead of just "happy".

I'd like to know why/if our middle-tier are being paid like rockstars.
Why? Because they are football stars. It is the elite competition and we are an elite club. Of course our best players get rewarded handsomely. Other clubs reward their star players handsomely as well. Even the clubs that finish bottom four pay their best players well. That business model isn't hard to understand?

We may take 24 and have a plan with pick swaps to get into 1st round. Or we have misunderstood the future first rule and wells doesnt give a stuff anout first round. Caddy is probably about worth 24 after all.

Well Caddy has stagnated with the cats either our system doesnt work for him or he needs to find that consistency to be a good mid, either way he is expendable and club should get what they can for him if we get a 1st rd we have robbed a club, but early 2nd I would take even with his age and contract status....

You know what? If we get 15 we don't have to worry about swapping picks. We are already in it.

Because of more money and, more importantly, because our own MC only rated his whole season at 4 out of 10; he'd have to be, at the least, equivocal about his future position at Geelong.

What ifs....

If Caddy is unhappy, and there is nothing to suggest he is unhappy, then trade him out if he wants to buddy up with Prestia.

That said, its not for a 20's pick. Id take both picks 24 and 27 and the throw that at GCS to get points and we'd take one of their Rd1 picks off them.

However, if we dont get that, then sod off.

If he wants to stay, he's contracted and he plays. I dont want to hear 1/2 thru the season however that he's unhappy not playing with his mate and wants a change.
