What crap can't believe we are losing Caddy for a second round pick will start writing my email to the club. If players request a trade let them go that's fine but you need to get adequate compensation.
I'll be emailing too.

This is ridiculous.

Sounds like our 1st round 2017 is going to GWS for Marchbank, and then GWS are trading that to Richmond for Deledio. At this stage the best we can hope for is to get that back for Caddy. Doubtful though.
I thought we had already traded our 2017 first round?Edit: I understand.

If that proposed trade is correct, we really should get in on it and make it a 4-way. No reason why we should let those 3 clubs trade around us and Richmond hand us their scraps.

Rather than:

Carlton: Marchbank
GWS: Deledio
Richmond: Geelong 2017 1st

-Richmond trade Geelong a pick in the 20s for Caddy

Make it:

Carlton: Marchbank
GWS: Deledio
Richmond: Caddy
Geelong: Geelong 2017 1st

We lost Smedts and our 2017 1st pick as well.
Smeldts is no loss to the club and the club has gambled that we will finish above Carlton next year in trading our 1st rd for their 2nd rd but will only be a 5-6 pick difference if this years form holds....

Probably one of the worst trade periods in club history..

Retired two legends of the game.
Trading our our depth (Smedts gone, Vardy and Kersto going)
Traded away our 2017 R1 (and Smedts) for a bloke whose worth a 2nd round pick
Potentially trading away arguably our third/fourth best mid for a pick in the 20's...

WTF is happening? You are supposed to try to improve your list over trade period...

Maybe we can get back the pick we traded away yesterday for Caddy if we play it correctly.

How are we rounding out our list? Drafting 3-4 players after pick 50 again?

We were already at the minimum numbers of players on our list and now we've lost Bartel, Enright, Kersten, Vardy, Smedts, Caddy and presumably Clark with only Tuohy as an in.

We are celebrating 2 club legends retire
We could have kept Kersten but other two have been a waste of space and should go
Our 1st rd for their 2nd rd which equates to 5-6 drop in places
our 4/5th best mid to clear cap space and Tuohy would be rated as good as caddy
So no far off it as a bad trade period on top Wells still has picks in the draft

Don't fully disagree yet, but you're being a little dramatic:
  • Won't comment on the retirements, as I'm as disappointed as anyone about it, but that's been a yearly thing since, well Harley left in 09.
  • Smedts and Vardy were no where near it this year, Kersto wanted to leave, I'm not sure we were ever in it from his perspective. And on the depth thing, players not in our PF team: Menzel, Cockatoo, Gregson, Ruggles, Thurlow, all of whom have played enough senior footy to show they're capable. And more depth below that.
  • We traded down somewhere between 1 and 10 picks in next year's draft. Forget 'round 1', 'round 2' labels, it's a deep draft, we lost a few spots that may end up being equivalent to anywhere from pick 40-70, which is a good deal.
  • Caddy... don't you feel like there's more to this one? I agree that pick 24 for Caddy is a shocking deal for us, but that can't be it, can it?
Edit: catman beat me to it ;-)

Why do we need to clear cap space when we've just lost five senior listed players (Enright, Bartel, Kersten, Vardy and Smedts)?
