If the roles were reversed and it was Geelong chasing a player of Kersten's ability who was off contract, didn't play finals and generally appeared to be out of favour with the coaching staff in the back half of the season would you expect Geelong to offer something high?
We did trade 36 for a guy who could hardly walk for a couple of years.

Piss weak. I thought after last year we may have turned the corner. Now, I'm not so sure if that report holds up.
I reckon we actually have a reputation now of being soft c*cks at the trade table and teams are now taking the piss....seriously we are pathetic at getting fair deals

Geelong would probably offer something in the 30s, and that would probably be considered fair.
Always the rascal. :D

We did trade 36 for a guy who could hardly walk for a couple of years.
And we got pick 41, which was turned into Jake Kolodjashnij, off Brisbane for a guy who ended up hardly playing a game for them in three years and retired before he was 30.

At the time many of us, and I was one, hated that trade but with the passage of time we ended up winning it

Speaking of that trade for McIntosh, do you know who was selected at 38 (which is what the pick became)?

I don't.

I would expect Geelong to offer something low initially and then end up having to pay something higher.

Seriously. Enough.

I think we have a reputation for being fair few deals we could have done better but we look after players welfare simple as that...
No, teams are now taking the piss in how they deal with us....how was relenting to Adelaide and giving away so much for Danger looking after player welfare when we could have played hardball and given nothing...also Hendo, altho a good pickup, we gave away waaay more than we had to. We knocked back 2 1st rounders for SJ and then let him walk for nothing twelve months later...let Walker and Jansen go for a 4th rounder, wtf seriously?..our trading strategy is a shambles and is the reason we now have no currency to offer for Deledio.

Have some balls and ask for Darcy Tucker, Lachie Weller or Ed Langdon.
Do it Wells ..... I DARE YOU!!!
While you're at it tell Richmond they can have a pick in the mid 20's (if we can upgrade) and they can cover 20% of his wages.
Then tell Cartank Tuohy is OOC and they can take a pick in the late 30's.
Do it Wells ..... I DARE YOU!!

Nothing to do with Fremantle or Mayne.

Has everything to do with what Collingwood offered Mayne and the AFL compensation formula.

I have my doubts any club would have offered up something like Pick 23 for Mayne if it was a trade.
He'll be on the same money that Touhy will be on.....

We getting him for peanuts?

We actually need Kersten with Vardy and Clark gone. Why should we do him or them any favours.

I respect his right to leave but they can respect our right to say GFY for anything above pick 50. He can wait till mid Nov to start training with them. What difference does pick 60 make to us. Zip.

Anything later than pick 50 and just let him enter the draft. It's not even going to effect us in the slightest. Please don't tell me we're going to get peanuts for Kersten, and trade in the out of contract Tuohy for first round draftee Lang, as is being speculated.

Please don't roll over like this. Only time will tell.

The term is what goes around comes around and the footy community is small, Dangerfield was conducted not to screw the system and abuse a clause we traded in the spirit which most clubs would do now and our fringe players are not worth more than 3rd round at best Kersten, Vardy, Murdoch, Smeldts, Walker or Jansen all worth between pick 50-65 and SJ didnt want to go originally so never entertained the thought....

Seems he wants to go on... very interesting
Personally I'd delist and rookie, we aren't a charity. Still the option of playing him if needed or earnt but lose nothing in the likely event of it all blowing up

That's not true. It was Adelaide who went outside the norms of the system when they decided to match the offer. The onus was on them to accept the compensation pick as is the norm. Plenty of other clbs would have told adelaide to get stuffed and taken Danger via the PSD. Remember that season we agreed to call off a game as a courtesy to them...but nohing in return.

It's ALWAYS us being the nice guys and I am yet to see it yield us any return...its just take, take, take from other clubs

When is our "coming around". They are talking 4th rd for Kersten. He played 17 games and had 40 shots in the 3rd best side in the league.

This is going to make LMcCarthy very happy.

I can't imagine his wage would be taking up much space and given who we're losing it has already hurt us as much as it could have.

Based on his contract games played and age his is worth more to stay at Geelong then on the trade table, but the clubs offer to him obviously wasnt great and why he explored other opportunities, if we get Pick 80 probably too low but certainly think in that 50 -65 bracket where he sits based on his output
