I think netballers are quite used to keeping their emotions in check when you look at some of the umpiring they put up with it is amazing they are able to keep control.

I did notice that the Jamaican was quite expressionless, but so were our shooters...until after the game when they were quite excited after a job well done.

West Indies team of the 80s and 90s rarely showed excitement after wickets. Just a casual high five...

Viv Richards showed very little when making a ton...

That cos they cool'man dont need to show no emotion..

after being invited over by your good friend smoovy - who it seems you've all trashed in the last few pages - i thought i would come and get involved in the discussion.

HUGE thunderbirds fan here. I think it's great they've gotten involved with Port Adelaide football club, can only be good for them.

We had a couple of disappointing weeks with the losses to Melbourne and Sydney, but after beating the Firebirds in Brisbane - which was their first loss at home for the season - we couldn't be happier. We managed to stop Romelda Aiken - which was nigh on impossible for the last couple of weeks after she's shot 50 odd goals and 40 odd goals in the past couple.

we're still sitting 5th on the table, but with a couple of games against "weaker" sides in the next few weeks - against New Zealand opponents, we could be right up there.

NOBODY STEALS OUR THUNDER!

GO THUNDERBIRDS!

haha now that's funny cos I've got so many warnings for disputing the umpires descion that it's not funny anymore

there's this one umpire....a guy..... seriously he doesn't know the rules of the game I swear it's down right bullshit that he still get's to umpire plus is biased as hell, he's the worst in our league for sure! ask anyone (except norlunga)

you've got to remember at that level the amount of umpires is low, and if you show some interest you'll get a game: whether you are good or no good, or indifferent.

noarlunga must enjoy having him control the games though: they must put in a good word for him!

Good to see you here U-bolt:thumbsu:

What is the worst that can happen in Netball, can you get sent off for abusing the umpire??

In basketball locally they have tightened up significantly on referee abuse. 2 Tech fouls now see you ejected from the game.

The worst I have seen in Nnetball is that the umpire will advance the ball like 10m for backchat. If that is the worst that can happen then I would definitely be giving some of the netball umps a bit more of a spray.

Yep you can get sent of for Abusing I've seen it happen before hell it happend to someone on my team and if you get sent off you can't replace her or her position so if she's in goals your screwed if she's in defence your screwed I think the only position your allowed to change is the Centre cos she has to take the pass!

and I can tell you If a players does get sent off you are royally screwed! and If your a goalie and your other goalie gets sent on it make life difficut scoring goals!

Can we rename this thread the Natalie Medhurst Appreciation Thread?

Look at the logo and color and what board you are on

and ask this question again

Thankfully most times the logo is too small to be viewed, however that said the logo is somewhat cunningly placed on the girls chests .

I must say I would draw the line if the girls trotted out in a black and white prison bar uniform.

This would just remind me of Elvis's Jailhouse Rock and get me all the more excited "If you can't find a partner use a wooden chair". Definitely one of the all time greatest lyrics. I get the feeling most of these Thunderbird lovelies could find a partner without too much trouble tho.

Is it possible Geva and Mo'onia were separated at birth? They also seem to have that "sixth sense" between each other, always seem to know what the other is going to do. I think the girls will definitely finish in the top 4 and it will be largely due to the defensive partnership of these two great players.

I was in Queensland for the weekend for the soccer, unfortunately I wasn't able to attend the netball but I know there was a sense of palpable shock up there that the Thunderbirds had beaten them at home. I think one of the over the top lines in a sports story was "Why has the castle suddenly crumbled?" Ha ha ... sweeeet victory! :)

Good luck 2 the team 2moro ... unfortunately I have a function to attend so can't watch (again .... grrrrr), I will be keeping up to date with the scores tho. Go u good things!!!

Magnificent effort by the Steel to down the Vixens today 47-46 at "The Cauldron" ... man, the noise was deafening!

T-Birds now have a great chance to ceputalise on the Vuxens slup up ... oops, sorry, have been listening to the NZ commentators too much.

A thumping win for the girls today destroying the Tactix 61-41

Beveridge was best on court with 40 from 44. The girls are starting to turn it around as they get used to the tall Beveridge being the target in the shooting circle.

I could go a tall Beveridge myself :)

Thumping win but it was a bit like the Crows beating up on Melbourne. Canterbury have no Tactix, let's be honest.

Heard Mo'onia was a standout again as well. What is their Brownlow equivalent? She would have to be in contention.

Mite go down to Henley 2moro morning in the hope of catching them in the nipply ... er I mean nippy ... water for their recovery session ...

Magic defeated Queensland as well so they have taken top of table.

There are actually more genuinely competitive teams in the netball league than in the AFL at the moment ... hence my excited involvement in the comp.

1 goal win to the girls today over the Mystics.

Once again were up by 5 late in the last and almost pulled out a Port style choke.

Looking good for a finals spot now if they keep up their current form.

Indeed Smoovy.

With the Firebirds and Swifts currently battling it out in Sydney, Swifts with a handy half time lead and the Vixens taking on the top of the table Magic 2moro nite (I will be opting out of my dinner to watch that one) the T-Birds will be nestled snugly in the top 4 after this round.

Cracking victory yesterday, the NZ ladies were on top several times but Adelaide kept fighting back and were good enuf to get thir first win across the Tasman.

Interesting to see the Swifts have the Swans emblem on their outfits as well, a lot of AFL cross promotion going on in this comp (probably a lot of "cross pollenation as well).

Disappointing 10 goal loss tonight by the girls at the hands of the swifts. We struggled in attack all night. However, in scenes reminiscent of early 90s crows away games at suburban grounds in Melbourne the umpires handed a good old fashioned caning.

Reports out of the camp is that Bianca Reddy is now deaf in her left ear due to the incessant whistle being blown against her for breathing on the Sydney shooters.

These must have been the same umps that gave Pavlich that ridiculous blocking free against St Kilda. I was sure I heard them call "Matthew ... penalty pass or shot" :)

Unfortunately I missed the game as I was stuck in a houshold without Foxtel (oh the humanity!) Fortunately I was able to watch a highly amusing episode of Two and a Half Men instead.

Disappointing loss but if the girls can win their remaining matches they will secure a finals berth. I think the last few games are either at home or against the NZ easybeats.

Competition must be revamped next year to have a more even draw and there should be 6 Aust & 4 NZ teams. The league must have got their draw from the same programme the AFL used for theirs this year.

Go the T-Birds!
