Kudos to White for doing the job - but how the White-lovers can froget the plumb LBW or his head all over the place as he caught edges is beyond me. Even the commentators noted it.

That's not good technique. You are wrong if you say it is. Keeping your head still is one of the basics of a good technique.
White's picked as a big hitting no 7 - Who cares about technique as long as he smashes heaps of late boundaries.

If you want correct, proper technique, put Watson at 7.

I'd prefer 45 off 32 anyday.

If he wants to cement a place in the team he has to become a better batsman and force the selectors to bat him at 4 or 5.

Yeah maybe long term, but for now and the world cup we only need him at 7. He's got no hope of taking 4 or 5 ahead of the superstars ahead of him. By that logic you'd drop him now due to his average bowling.

Hussey's played most of his ODI innings to date at #7 without bowling, why can't White cement his spot there for now instead having to force his way up the order past some of the best ODI bats we've ever seen?

Cameron White is the new god of Victorian Cricket. He will be nearly as good as Shane Warne.

Cameron White is way better than Michael Clarke after all Clarke only got in the test side because he is from NSW.
ugh, what? put down the crackpipe

Cullen won't because he's a hack who averages 40.

White will play one day cricket and will play tests by 2008/09. Stuart MacGil has the spinners spot covered because of the fact that Cullen is doing so bad.
Gee, haven't you jumped on the White bandwagon? A year ago you used to bag him for being a Victorian hack that would never make it

He's got 45 off 33 balls in his ODI batting career - not a bad start :thumbsu: And his List A average has finally moved ahead of Symonds'. I'd say he's probably performing better than Roy at their respective career stages if he has a good series. So to all those who said two years ago that he couldn't get into the team because his batting was no good, I think it's clearer now that he will succeed.

BTW, something that has annoyed me for about 3 years now, people STILL think he's a bowler

Correct, Dan Cullen Bailey has done nothing to warrant selection at least play White becuase he can bat even if his bowling is not great.

I can't believe some people want Cullen in the side ahead of White when White has taken 130 odd wickets at first class level compared to 80 odd wickets to Cullen. It doesn't add up why they want Cullen in

haha yeah that was an overblown statement on my part but I could only dream of White being as good as Warne though but Warne is a legend and White has a long, long way to go to catch Warnie
lol ill follow you on that dream, just so we can see another player of warnes calibre!

White is a good batsmen but he is no were near as good as Clarke
Clarke is a better batsmen and a better bowler and is a better fieldsmen
I'm not convinced Clarke will be consistent long term , good bowlers might find a few weaknesses with his batting but he is in front of White .

You can't knock White's batting at present as he's doing a job , haven't seen enough good things by him in the field to give the great field label , but his bowling is not up to standard (how can you have subtle variants in spin when you don't spin the ball , wasn't Benaud's first advice to Warne - spin the ball , once they start looking for the ball to move off the pitch you can start worrying about the rest)

For the White supporters - stop denying he has been picked as an all-rounder , if he wasn't Ponting wouldn't have thrown him the ball at the end to get him a wicket (just like how he gets his wickets for Vic) .

All this he's been picked for a couple of overs along with Clarke and Symonds is just crap , Roy bowls 10 or close to it most ODI's and Clarke has hardly bowled an over other than the other night .
