Re: Ponting: White's bowling - "wicket-taking option"

Trolling?

When the captian of Australia and the best batsman of his generation claims our gun batting allrounder will develop into a "wicket taking option", its huge news.

No, it isn't. He talks up every new player like a good captain does.

You're trolling and flooding the board when there is already a specific thread.

I'm guessing by your avoiding my question to you that you are incapable of looking at White objectively.

Re: Ponting: White's bowling - "wicket-taking option"

If you don't like it, ignore it.

There is already a thread on White, where Bentleigh has already posted this.

It's clogging up the board.

Well deserving of its own thread.

Re: Ponting: White's bowling - "wicket-taking option"

JM if Cameron White was from SA, you would be trowing rose petals at his feet, and BTW, hows Cosgrove & Tait going anyway ?, they were supposed to be the second coming of Australian Cricket (except form the fact that Tait's injury prone & inaccurate & Cosgrove spends more time at the all you can eat buffet, than at the middle).

Wow, you accuse me of anti-Victorian bias then slag Tait. Now that's just plain dumb.

And if you'll look at my post history, you'll find I've been as critical of Cosgrove's laziness as anyone else. I've started a thread criticising.

But it's easier for you to lie and slander me than to actually accept that I criticise White because I actually think he was picked too early rather than this nebulous anti-Victorian bias you claim, isn't it?

That would require you to swallow your pride. It's much easier just to post lies that are easily blown apart when I ask you to provide further evidence of my 'bias' or to show my post history on Cosgrove.

Why haven't you criticised Hilfenhaus for being given a game early? Or Cosgrove? Or Cullen?

I rate White because he is a star.

Not because he is the captian of Victoria.

Nice bonus though.

Re: Ponting: White's bowling - "wicket-taking option"

Why haven't you criticised Hilfenhaus for being given a game early? Or Cosgrove? Or Cullen?

Hilfenhaus' record over the last 2 seasons has been exceptional. He deserved his spot.

Cosgrove was earmarked early and was absolutely brilliant last season. As in, far, far better than Cam White has been this season. He was the Domestic One-Day Player of the Year. He broke the record for runscoring last season. He was given one ODI against Bangladesh as a tester and scored 74 at more than a run a ball as an opener. He then had 2 further ODIs in Malaysia and performed creditably. He is no longer in the set-up. By comparison, Cam White's record does not even touch Cosgrove's, yet he has selected for twice as many ODIs as Cosgrove. Cosgrove Bangladesh ODI was earnt. Cam White was picked before this season when he hadn't even performed at all (and he promptly made a duck).

How you can claim Cosgrove was selected too early when he broke Australian ODD runscoring records and received the Player of the Year award is beyond me.

Having said that, until he gets his attitude right he doesn't deserve any more ODIs.

Cullen wasn't really ready, and still isn't. I have criticised his anointment as the next spinner for Australia because he has gone backwards since his first season. However, he was picked as a tester for Australia's next spinner in cheap ODIs against Bangladesh. They're largely irrelevant.

I agree. Put Watson at either 4 or 6 and push the rest down the order.
I say where Clarke, Symonds and Hussey want to bat should take precedence over where the inferior batsman Watson is more suited if he comes back in.

IMO, Watson should only come in as
1) An opener, if the Hayden move fails.
2) At no 8, ahead of one of the quicks and Hogg. Lee, Bracken and McGrath are ahead of him, MJ will be, but now? hard to say - he looks good, but Watson's a better ODI bowler than Clark.
3) At no 7 if someone else gets injured or they choose to prefer him to White because of his excellent ODI bowling record over the past year. Yes he's less suited there, but why stuff our middle order superstars around just cos of him?

JM, If Cosgrove spend more time at the gym than what he does at Macca's we wouldn't be having this argument, and why is it that every post you do, has to diss Cam White ?, mate dissing him isn't going to get man boobs Cosgrove into the ODI team any sooner, his form & fitness wil. get over it.

You're kidding surely- Punter gets asked about someone's bowling, he can either say how good he is, criticise one of his players in the media (yeah right) or try and avoid the question.

I just see him as someone, if we can, to give him some overs,
Doesn't get a bowl based on merit

give him some confidence
Gift him some tail end wickets to erase what happens when he bowls to batsmen

He's just going to get better and better with more experience
Please let him learn to bowl

I can see him as a good wicket-taking option for us.
Can't be relied on, hopefully we can use him to buy a few wickets at some point in the future.

He's important to the team for hitting in the later overs, stop trying to convince yourself that he's anything more than a part timer and stop flooding the board with this crap

Nice one. I actually like Cossy, but he is in all sorts. A mate of mine saw him on the weekend ordering a leek and chicken pie and a chocolate milk drink from a Bakery. Needs to stop all the crap food and start training.

Where did I say Cosgrove should be in the team.

You are now just deliberately posting gutter crap.

Maybe your hatred for Victorians have blinded in your assessment of Cameron White don't you think? And talk about hypocrisy you can't say that I'm biased towards White when you're equally if not more biased towards Dan Cullen.

If you don't know I might be anti-NSW when it comes to the Cricket but I do recognise a good player like Nathan Bracken. So why don't you do the same and recognise a good player like Cameron White, just maybe you need to stop drinking to much of the Adelaide water it's going to your head lol

Where the hell have I been biased toward Dan Cullen? I said he should not be in the side, you dingbat.

Since you can't even organise your arguments properly and use 'lol' all the time, I'm guessing there's nothing in your head for water to affect anyway.

watson is a better batter than bowler so put him in the top order, he would make the side on his batting alone

I rate White because he is a superstar.

Being picked for Australia and performing, seems the selectors, White himself and the rest of the cricket-world agree.

One of the very best and best potential prospect in the game world wide.

You'd agree, if you didn't hate Victorians.

:)
