I'm guessing he is a development player and will be expected to lead the ruck in a couple of years.

Who knows, all you guys may be wrong and he may develop into a gun. He still has time on his side.

He is 197 cm / 90 kg ruckman who can play as a key forward. He is 20 year old. Good mark but honestly would you rather get a 17 year old who is great below his knees, is quick and athletic who can also play forward or a 20 year old who cannot get a game consistently for Glenelg who are struggling. We might be proven wrong but I don't like our chances.

We probably would have taken Mott but he got snatched up.

Not happy about overlooking Hall.

I have to say that I find Adelaide's last 2 selections dumbfounding, although time may prove otherwise.

I would have thought that taking Hall at 31 should have been a no-brainer. Kreuger would have surely still been there at 57.

Butler is obviously the ready made fill-in for injury. I notice in Werribee's results that he does kick a goal or two most games and got in the best players at CHF in one game.

Watts is the big get - very happy about that one.

I am EXTREMELY happy with Watts. Macca23 and I have been flying his flag half way through the year. A great get:D

I would have taken Hall over Krueger anyday and twice on sunday.

Hudson is the ready made recruit and can probably fill in if needed. It would appear that Carlton played very smart by selecting Mott just before us.

I can't believe I actually sacrifised a couple of hours of exam prep to follow this sh|t and get worked up about it:mad: :(

A little ****ed are we Stiffy?????? It's The AFC we support remember we always get the National Draft wrong:rolleyes:

I can't believe it, Adelaide openly expressed their interest in Hall before the draft, yet when he was oddly available at 31 they took the older, apparently less talented Krueger?

Something odd is going on here. Did they find out something bad about Hall just before the draft?

AHAHAHAHAH! Port took Robert Forster-Knight! He's craphouse!
Agreed.

Anyone who falls for a Ronnie Burns dummy on the right foot doesn't deserve to be playing at the highest level.

Or as Tim Lane put during one night game... "off to Forster-Knight, who hasn't really been a force tonight."

You have no idea how upset I am with our 2nd pick. Can't complain with the 3rd pick as that was always going to be used on a mature recruit. Bit disappointed that Carlton snatched up Ricky Mott right in front of our noses.

But Krueger instead of Hall??????

Port's love affair with Essendon players continue.

And a player who couldn't barely get a game with the Bombers, to boot

Though he does have this amazing skill apparently:

from afl.com.au:
'Forster-Knight did a good stopping job but also picked up 14 possessions himself in the second calf'

Now, call me sensationalist, but I don't know of too many players who can pick up possessions in the second calf. Impressive.

Gee Sydney are really developing a fetish for South Australian players.

Add Willoughby and Schmidt to Crouch, Fosdike, Doyle, Sundqvist, O'Loughlan, James et al.

Barham's had that for a while and certainly no complaints. SA has given us some good players in recent years. Maybe the thinking is that they're less likely to want to go back home;)

Any more info on Willoughby and Schmidt from anyone who's seen them play?

And Scott Stevens could barely get a game at Sydney but i bet your happy you traded for him right?

And last year we traded for Cochrane who wasnt overly rated all that highly and most people scoffed at that and didnt expect him to do all that much yet he played every game he was fit for us, was best or 2nd best in our winning final and tagged many good players out of games and performed his role extremely well.

Port stated they wanted an AFL experienced player with 1 pick and he was one of the players that suited what we were after best. Who else would we have got? Simon Fletcher? bleh. Glen Bowyer? bleh. Hes only 21, has no expectations on him at all, and is the type of player we needed - a tallish midfielder that will ultimately be played on a back flank.

Before scoffing and laughing at one of Ports picks, maybe you should concentrate on your own clubs draft picks.

Stiffy - as for the rolleyes on ex-Essendon players....why wouldnt we continue to get them. Theyve all been a success so far. Cummings kicked 70 goals in our first year. Kingsley is a best and fairest winner. Wanganeen was a captain and 2 time AA winner for us. Cockatoo Collins was almost AA in 2001. Hardwick was our 2nd best defender last year and our best finals player this year. If RFK can perform and play as much as Kingsley has during his career then I, and most Port supporters, would be more than happy.

Gee, someone's a bit protective. Don't make assumptions, buster, because as the movie-man says 'assumptions are the mother of all fukc-ups'

Now, you ASSUME I was happy with the Stevens deal. I wasn't at all. As you said, he could barely get a game with Sydney, and he didn't cause me much interest when I saw him play. So, no, I'm not happy we traded for him.

No go back to the land of chokers and stop bothering us, we'll bag players like Forster-Knight if we want. IF you don't like, don't read it.

Oh,and by the way, to play the devil's advocate: Cummings was a failure in his second year, as he has been with every other club. Apart from a couple of good games, Cockatoo-Collins was a dead-set dud who wasted a place in the side. Kingsley chokes hardcore in finals. Hardwick wasn't the player at Port he had been at Essendon. Serviceable his first year, declining ever since.

Wanganeen was the only real gem.

Actually I'm not happy about it at all Macca. :(

If we didn't trade for Stevens we could have taken Tim Schmidt at #29, Ricky Mott at #45 and Gayfer at #67 (the last one could still have happened anyway).

Watts, Schmidt, Mott and Gayfer would have been a great package to get.

Mott's a ready to play ruckman so we could have rookie listed a couple of young ruckmen for development.

Not happy Jan!!

Actually, we didn't draft Krueger, what re you guys going on about?

Check the AFL site, we actually drafted 'Joshua Ku' with our second pick.

Haven't heard too much about him?

:D

I haven't seen them play but have you seen the latest Inside Football?

The West Adelaide development manager says: "If I likened him to an AFL player it would be a more polished version of Joe Misiti. As far as work ethic goes he's better than Adam Cooney and as far as skill level goes he's as good as."

Make of that what you will. He even refers to Schmidt in Cooney's profile - placing that pair and Schammer in the same bracket.

After reading that last week, I hoped we'd get him.

Willoughby's profile isn't terribly specific.

Well Hello Boys!!!

Unlike some of you grumpy lads, I would like to welcome Josh, Fergie (thats what I am calling him - cause I can't face Fergus :D ) & Ben to our wonderful club!

Come on, give the boys a go!

I don't really understand why Port would want an experienced player just for the sake of it. Is it just selfish recruiting on Williams' part?

RFK I just do not rate at all.

Cochrane for Michael Stevens was a good deal.

But Forster-Knight for Guerra?

I wouldn't compare him to Scott Stevens either. The Swans apparently wanted to hang onto Stevens.

I thought you'd still prefer Hall to Schmidt though.

And we didn't lose Hall because of that deal.
