Well looks like you will have to wait for him to become a FA so another 2 years
Only if the Crows do not match. He can walk for free if the Crows let him go.

Crows will not match because that is the smartest strategy in the situation they might find themselves in. Matching creates too much risk. They will be conservative

He has to make smart decisions , the smart decision is to let Dangerfield go via free agency.

Sounds like your inside info about Adelaide matching Geelongs offer is about as accurate as the inside info that Dangerfield had signed a contract that was going to announced yesterday.

You bored Marty. Didn't you say you only post here when you are ..or some such thing?

Let me give into you then discuss some points that seem plausible gospel on the AFC thread..
If he wants to come , AFC will match and the going rate will be something that will range from 1 player and pick , to almost anything.
Another "truth" is that Geelong is further away from a Flag than the Crows , we will be rebuilding/ordinary (whatever you wish to call it) for the next 3-5 years.

If so , where is the upside for Geelong?

Why trade our R1 and Motlop and Menzel/GHS/Murdoch/Cockatoo or whoever... for a player when we are so far away , so maybe its better for us to keep all that , restructure with other mature FA players , get games into our kids who we rate , get some extra early picks... and then come back in two years .. and of course the next two years will just be the same as the last two. Constant elevation of debate from the media ...what will you do Paddy , you will be a UFA Paddy , hows the family Paddy.... have Paddy on the screen in a Geelong jumper , coaching local footy teams... the media care only about the story , not how it makes people feel.

Cause the basis of the idea that because he is a Rfa , we must trade for him , and loose 2 or 3 important pieces of a list build when we are miles away from being in contention really doesn't make sense. Is it that important that we have him for the next two years? If what has been suggested is the cost , and if we are rebuilding ... we may as well wait two year and just take him then. Think of the how much happier the Crows board will be , another two years with him and no agonising debate on match or not match in 2017 , how much your getting in trade... it will be just what ever the AFL give as comp. Of course thats as long as they dont take comp away.

By the way I'm not sure many teams can say they are in or out of contention. Maybe the bottom 6 sides..after that I don't see Geelong much different to Adelaide or North. Any player saying they are going to a club to win a flag is highly hopeful at best.

I think your opinion is valid is it different to Geelongs, time will tell. I have no doubt PD's intentions aren't $ or premiership driven and have no doubt that the Roo would have had a very open discussion about his future and his and the clubs expectations and intentions. After all he is in partnership in a hotel with him so the lines of communication would be very open.

I'm not questioning in whether he is leaving percentages say he will, it's how he leaves. I see why Geelong wouldn't want to sell the farm but if PD can't get an assurance this may be the sticking point which may make him consider where he sits.

For anyone to say there isn't a risk for PD they are kidding themselves and should go and read the AFL website and to say the AFLPA will make it happen. Please the AFL and AFLPA negotiated the RFA rule. You don't make a rule and not expect people to abide by it do you for the sake of it

http://chambers.vic.edu.au/24-weird-rules-australia/

...In Gold Coast, it is illegal for women to wear a bikini whose material exceeds six square inches

...In Melbourne, driving a goat or a dog attached or harnessed to a vehicle in a place that is public is illegal

...Changing a light bulb can get you into trouble with the law as only licensed electricians are allowed to change a light bulb even in private residence

My guess every law book in aust. would have stupid redundant rules, that were introduced for a reason that has passed its use by date , rules that are unenforceable or rules that the current governing body wouldn't wish to abide by.
Adelaide may well match , but if they do , I feel it will be the beginning of the end for RFA. Its not logical not to mention biased.

There is a very simple solution to this .

Dangerfield will want to come to Geelong, with Geelong being in the best shape possible ,which means he comes for nothing.

Dangerfield will say to Adelaide I cant commit to the club , if you keep me on I cant dedicate myself

Adelaide will not be able to pay a player $1.2 million a year who cant dedicate himself to the club.

Pretty sure $ will not be an issue for any club they would ensure that space is made. If he doesn't want to be at the club he's playing pretty damn well so that wouldn't concern me. Or sorry is it he loves it this year but has decided he will hate it next year. He seemed pretty attached to the club last weekend, but that's not my debate as I believe he wants to get to Geelong for location reasons and would love to know how PD can get a 100% unconditional guarantee that this can happen with the fact he is not a FA although some deluded posters think he is.

You just don't get it.
Trade won't happen. Won't happen, a trade.
Of a trade, it won't happen.

the crows cant use the philip walsh stuff in one way and then come out like a lunatic and demand 3 first round picks

buddy was a better player than danger and netted one late first round pick, its not about equitable solutions

Marty is gonna need to
Do a kiss Stephanie when this all settles - fresh start and a new name. Cos if he remains on these boards the amount of shit I'll personally tagging him in will have his feed busier than a hooker at a us military base.

We don't want to have to lock up the thread again.

Discuss the options of the PD situation but keep the baiting and future "Im gonna" out of it.
