Just want Hawk and Mots to sign on dotted line Paddy D can have whats left.Look after them first.
If Hawk is not #1 on ever persons list at KP, then there are bigger issues at foot…

You could almost say TH is #1 and 2 on that list…

Working on Hawk as we speak.
Pleased as your info seems to be good and fairly close to the mark. Im not getting relieved until I see it announced by the club but am happy that the jungle drums have the right beat to them at least….

Good for everyone if its done by Rd 1 IMO...

Yeah the idea is to have it done by round 1 would tie him to us for life.

Hopefully Hawk has the same idea and gets it done.

No idea, sorry mate. I'll try find out though.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find any player OOC at GFC that would have an issue getting theirs done after TH. Fair to assume that everyone knows TH would be #1.

It would get interesting after that however… although Mitch and Caddy being done certainly helps.

You'd think Mots would be up there now...

Word on the AFC board that Danger has advised a club official of his intentions to move on. Take it as nothing - I am - but the drums are beating.

total he said she said - but it keeps coming up…

Has a dreadfully familiar ring to it, doesn't it?
The whole idea of star conscripts daring to think about exercising their perfectly reasonable FA rights really does barrackers' heads in and makes them spout even more irrational drivel than usual.
But we're familiar with that on here, aren't we?:D

PS, of course, if Hawkins' manager starts making ominous noises like "just wants to concentrate on his footy and get this season out of the way, etc, etc"...........

Thanks for that respectful post:thumbsu:

It's going to be a long season this year unless and until this resolves.

We have folks on our board who claim factual knowledge both ways, none of whom are generally given to making outlandish claims.

We are going to be hearing shit like this for a while yet. Even if he has made up his mind - which I don't believe - there's no way it is going to go from speculation to acknowledged fact any time before the end of the season.

I reckon he will want to see how the season goes before making up his mind, even if he is leaning one way or the other.

We have been there before mate, as much as I hope he comes to us I also feel sorry for you lot... have been hit harder with players leaving either by getting poached or by the expansions than anyone else

Thanks for the sentiment. However it raises serious questions about our club and culture - nobody holds a gun to these guys heads. They leave because they want to. We can't blame the city of Adelaide anymore either with players from Victoria naming Port as a club of choice.

We can't write it off to homesickness when we throw the sink at Gibbs but can't get him home.

The loss of the players you mention + the draft sanctions + Danger, will see us done for a decade

Sorry but I disagree. Port was done for a decade two years ago. Maybe a brave trade or two may be needed but the Crows have a huge supporter base , a great home ground and it just needs a bit of development from your kids. Whether Danger comes or goes should not be consider the defining moment for year next decade.

I genuinely believe this Dangerfield talk will go the same way as Boak and Frawley.

I'd be disillusioned if we offered him a godfather deal - no way he deserves to be paid more than Selwood or Hawkins (the latter of whom we've still got to lock away). And I can't fathom why he'd come to us for less than he could get at several other clubs especially when the outside perception is that we're on the way down, not up (apparently this was a factor in Frawley's decision).

The Crows will still be hurting from the losses of Tippett, Gunston etc and they will do everything in their power to not lose another star, even if it means a $1m a year, six year deal.

tend to agree with you myself. Makes me wonder if we have decent negotiators, does Brian Cook control a lot of the player movements?
We have not been able to snag a top shelf footballer in their prime since Brad Ottens. Recent players who have been there for the taking have decided to stay or choose another club. Even Caddy originally nominated North Melbourne as his preferred destination but our compo just got that deal done in the final days so why would it change for Dangerfield when Collingwood, Hawthorn, North Melbourne will be the 'big players' all over again?

And how the hell have North Melbourne suddenly became an attractive club for stars looking for a move back home

I was under the impression they were cash strapped with mediocre membership numbers/average on-field success boasting the two worst finals drubbings by a club this past three years.
I thought Cadddy nominated us? I can remember us being happy about it before we had signed him? Or maybe we were just happy that we might have had him....

Truth be told there hasn't been a huge amount of guns changing teams via FA really, Godard went to Essendon, Buddy to the Swans.. not players we really even tried for. I'm not sure North have become an attractive club for that either... who have they attracted? Dal Santo who is near the end of his career.. Waite and Higgins who could both be garbage.

We missed Frawley... thats all really isn't it? We went hard at Boak but he never left his club, so i don't see that as us missing out on him. If someone offers Hawk or Mots a huge deal and they stay with us have they missed out on them? I wouldn't say so.

1.We haven't even gone after a top shelf footballer, Danger will be the first.

2. They only player we've missed out on was Frawley which I've already explained a few times before why.

3. Boak wasn't a Free Agent, we would have had to trade.

4. Rivers picked us over Port, Hawks and Pies. While not top shelf, again our only Free Agent.

5. Caddy stated in one of his first interviews that he picked Geelong. He said meeting Bartel and Selwood as well as seeing our facilities made him pick us.

6. Norf got Dal Santo because Saints suck and Norf are better placed, the rest of their FA's are spuds, but Norf is better then Bulldogs, and Carlton.

7. Clark also picked us over Pies (not an FA though but he had a choice of clubs)

Overall, our strike rate isn't too bad considering. I also believe Balme (inb4twoweeksjoke) was the negotiator along with Wells, but now it'll be Hocking and Wells. (correct me if I'm wrong)
