I don't know about anyone else but trade week, draft day etc excites me. I also love the rumours. Bring it on! :)

I'm not such a fan of the obviously BS rumours but yeh it's interesting. Stressful though. I dreamt the other night about us screwing our first pick up trying to be fancy. 2001 trade time was classic because every time they mentioned Misiti to be traded they'd show the footage of him sinking the hawks in the prelim with that goal on the run.

I'm surprised that there has been no mention of Brett Thornton in this thread. He is exactly what we need at Essendon. Apparently he is after a heap more than Carlton have offered him.

Rumoured that a club has offered him 3 years....also rumoured that Sheedy has met with him.

agree i want to get him. Problem is the fact we offered our best and fairest lucas only 2 years and we would have to offer 3 to thornton to come to us... same situation with aker.

Diffference is Thornton is not 28-30 hes only 22. I'd offer him a 3 yr deal to get him.

yeah thornton would be handy as the second or third tall in our backline, in 2 years he could easily become the number one backman in the comp, but i dont think carlton will let him go unless a trade for laycock is made, the only problem i have is carlton might try and pick laycock up in the psd and we get nothing.

since this is also a draft thread could someone please find out gumbletons stats for the season and post the link or them
cheers

If Carlton try and push Laycock into the PSD we can do exactly the same thing to Thornton.

If they are both going to go, coming to a trade seems the more logical outcome. That leaves both clubs the option to use their PSD picks elsewhere.

I guess in the end we're just all guessing though. I don't trust any story that comes out of Carlton in regards to their players having contract disputes. It just happens far too often.

yeah but what if they sign thornton? then we lose laycock for nothing.
I agree with you on the contract front a carlton, every club is the same though its always the managers pumpin up the tyres of their players. Most players except bolton and henneman could leave their respective clubs and bask in more wealth or longer contracts from a rival club thats what headhunting in the business core is about, its just depends on the players challenges in life. Nathan Brown went for more money?? i laugh that the bulldogs are more succesful then richmond, serves him right

Sorry if it's been mentioned before as i have not gone and read all the posts, but what are your thoughts on the possibility of Chris Ladhams heading back your way for a late draft pick or maybe even a PSD?

I would think it's highly unlikely

Don't be surprised, he is still at a good age and is one of the best players outside of the AFL. Trust me it is a real possibility.

It's actually quite an outside posibility, we will be using our draft picks this year, not trading them away for mid 20 fringe players and if we don't find anyone better for the PSD I will be extremely dissapointed
