Ok, so it could just be a $$$$$ thing tho I would be surprised if that was the case considering the Lions lost so much top shelf salary cap recently. Who do we know are definatley PSD candidates? I would think that maybe Thurgood or Kingsley would be ok. Even tho Kingsley is a bit of a hack and we have a stacked forward line as is, he is surely worth something for nothing. Who else would even be considered?

I never do this but I spoke to a person I used to do some work in footy with who is now a spotter with a Victorian AFL club. He said that most people in footy believe/think/know that essendon are going to take Selwood at pick 2 if Gibbs is chosen by Carlton. I have stated many times my preference for Gumbleton but I can assure all that this guy knows his stuff and is adamant that it will work out this way. Does anyone know how Selwood performed at draft camp? I saw him at u/16 level and he was terrific but has he got over his injuries?

I don't know about his agility testing, but he was ranked right up there for the vertical leap. Which would give some indication his knee has healed pretty well.

I'd be happy with Selwood, apparantly there is a fourth brother that is even better. Fair family.

May even be an issue with the length of the contract.

Is Joel Perry worth a look at?

To be honest I don't know a lot about him. I was a massive Thurgood fan back in 05. The guy has no fear, but is at best a raw talent. He is also injury prone... and lets face it, he's ugly ;) Who else is established at AFL level apart from Kingsley? (When I say established I mean <22ish games)

Despite his injury concerns, Im a Thurgood fan also. Give him a solid weights program, he could become a more than handy utility for any side wishing to plug a gap.

What about Callum Chambers? He is handy. I don't think Carlton gave him fair run. Then again do we really need anymore Carlton rejects?

I believe the supplemental team list has to be in by next Tuesday.

So far Essendon has delisted 4 players from the senior list and 2 from the rookie list. We have 8 selections in the National Draft with 6 coming in the top 50. If Essendon seriously want to utilise those picks then more delisting are on the cards. This would also leave very little room to move in the PSD. I think realistically the only person EFC would go for would be Notting.

We've delisted Henneman, Reynolds, Lucy and Cartledge.

Rioli has retired.

Solly has gone to Freo and we expect Rama to be removed from the senior list in some capacity.

That gives us seven spots on our list, we only have to use six of those selections in the National Draft, I expect we'll use those six and one in the PSD.

The fourth Selwood I think is Scott who I thought was a cousin but I dont know 100%. He is 16. Addam Maric kicked 4 in the 1st quarter on him by memory but Maric is capable of doing that to a lot of pretty handy players. It would certainly change the direction of the draft if we went small with our first pick. I would hope we take mids with our first three picks. It would kickstart our midfield especially in the future. What do you think?

It's tough, there are so many different ways we could go.

I would be happy with Selwood, I'd be happy with Hansen, I'd be over the moon with Gibbs.

I think we need to get a tall somewhere along the line, but three talented midfielders early would set us up nicely.

Gibbs has said he rates Selwood as the best player in the draft.

Lee would want to continue making strides and I think he can, untill then I think McPhee will rediscover some form for '07

Andrew Lee won't be able to go straight into CHB but give him half a season and he should be a very good player. Also I think Essendon should try play LLoyd at CHF in the sort of role Carey played, whilst Lucas helps out at CHB along with lee and Mcfee. Johns to Full Forward showed he can kick for goal in the second half of this year.

with lloyd only playing his first game in ages next season, i dont think he should be played at probably the hardest position on the ground.

Lucas won't be played down back, McPhee will be the primary CHB while Lee gets some game time there as could Hansen if we draft him.

We have an AA calibre CHF in Lucas so no reason to use Lloyd there, Lloyd or Johns could both lead, there's enough room or Johns could stay in the square, either way tough match-ups

I would love to see Lloyd play at CHF when the times right i was hoping he would play there last year. I also think at the moment we may have the best forward line in the compitition at full strength.

Read this article the other day. If you skip pass the foreward it has some great thoughts on drafting. Article from the States but it applies for here too IMO.

Reminded me how smart the Dees were for taking a guy like Brock McLean a few years ago who proved he could play when it mattered.

With Johns up forward will certainly stretch most backlines, but still a few years from beating the good full backs of the game. No point have too many expectations on the kid just yet. Lloyd will almost certainly begin in his customary role from the square...
