i think a good pcik up for the bombers might be anthony corrie in the psd, young small foward, add some depth to our foward line when players such as lovett and monfries are injured

What would Laycock be worth in the draft? Would anyone give up a first round pick for him or top 20?

I'm a huge fan of his and I think he will become a very good player but if we could get a first rounder then we could have 4 picks inside the top 20.

Food for thought.

As for Anthony Corrie - no thankyou.

Agree Kel- Laycock is definitely trade material, Carlton are looking for a ruckman.

What if Hille gets injured then we're left with Ryder who isn't ready yet, he's unsigned atm but I hope he stays

Laycock is injured most of the time anyway. Bradley might be around to help out- what if Hille doesn't get injured, and what if Ryder makes progress, and what if we pick up an early second round pick.

I agree to some extent, and although i hope there are more highly credentialed players in the PSD, if not he certainly would be worth considering.

I think he has a lot of talent, whether he produces on a consistant basis is the thing that only time will reveal.

Some good points although I'd love to see how good he can be if he has a good pre-season and is fit.

We would be screwed if Hille got injured because Ryder simply isn't ready yet, if we were to trade Laycock it would be better to wait another year, especially if Laycock plays well then we're gaurenteed a good pick for him

that doesn't sound right, "wait until he plays well and gives value to our team then trade him"?????????????

i dont think we should trade him full stop, wait until he is 26-28 and he will be right up there with one of the best. It wasn't until this year that Hille played consistentyl well for us for the whole season. Ruckman need to be given patience they only have 3-4 years of real good consistent footy because by thetime they mature they are getting old.

True, I think he will become a very good ruckman, the only interesting thing will be having Hille, Laycock and Ryder all on the same list who are all capable of being solid 22 game ruckmen, unless one of them is to become a permanent forward it will be difficult to keep all 3 happy

I think laycock will eventually become a forward not a ruckman. Dont know how we will fit the three in though. oh what a shocking dilemma to have :p. I am so used to having the dilemma of us not having a quality ruckman :p

The trouble is Laycock hasnt exactly dominated when he has played anyway. Yes he has put in a few handy performances but he has hardly stood up and said i can take over the number one spot yet. If Hille gets injured we are stuffed with or without Laycock.
One interesting poser would be if we dont get Aker (which is still very much a 50/50 chance despite what is being reported) do we look at Spider to give us a couple years of experience in the ruck? The experience he could give to Hille and Ryder would be great.I know people are saying he is over the line at the Swans but there is a little rumour going around that it isnt such a certain thing.
At the end of the day if Laycock wants to play hard ball over money i say lets trade him. He hasnt done enough to command a big pay increase. I dont want to see him go but given his record so far he cant be holding us up for more in my opinion.

Yeah, I'm with you, I brought up the Everitt idea in another thread but I don't think it got noticed hehe.

If we could trade Laycock for a good pick and somehow get Spider i think it would definately be worthwhile, he could not only share duties with Hille until Ryder is ready but could teach Ryder all the tricks of the trade, Ryder has the potential to be as good as Spider was/is

I'm not to sure that Spider is interested in teaching young kids these days. His playing day's are almost over and he wants to finish playing finals, hence his desire to go to Sydney, and try to win a flag.

He wouldn't be to be a teacher as such but it wouldn't be hard to show Ryder some tricks of the trade at training during the week, I have a feeling he'll be at Sydney anyway

Wonder if there is any chance of disgruntled St. Kilda players looking to leave. Thomas seemed to be very popular with the players and his sacking might have got up a few players nose.

If we don't go for Spider what about Gardner in the PSD? Still a quality ruckman despite all his off-field problems..

He plays a lot of forward in the WAFL these days, he does some rucking around the ground but never takes the centre bounces because of his knees. Unless Laycock decides to leave I'd much rather him than Gardiner

Have heard that 5 clubs are chasing Laycock. Sydney and Freo very interested but doesnt want to move out of Melbourne. Hawthorn have offered him double what Essendon have offered. Would'nt blame him if he went to Hawthorn as he would be the Number 1 ruckman down there.

Wow, didn't know he was in such demand. Would hate to see him go without recruiting a decent ruckman in return because Ryder is still raw and I don't really want Gardiner

 5 clubs

Carlton would be into him wouldnt they?

Why would Hawthorn want him with Campbell, Taylor & Bailey?

Been a while since he has been a quality ruckman and has injury problems to go with his off field baggage. Cant see him having a role with us at all as .

Really given they aready have three good young ruckman .

Maybe to play him as a forward so they can leave Croad in defence

It is not like the Hawks dont have enough forwards. Croad was only used up forward because Franklin was injured early on.
Expect a fair bit more from Buddy next year and remember that they have Dowler who despite missing virtually all of the pre season yet still played some really good footy for Box Hill when he came back as well as a few senior games. They also have Dixon and Roughead who can play forward or back.
They will have a chance to have a crack at a decent young tall from this years draft as well.
