Atley was the best slider.

If he'd slid one more pick, things might have gotten interesting. After all, he is rated by some as the second coming of Chris Judd and who wouldn't want two of them in the same team? :D WH likes midfielders and best available, so the temptation would have been overwhelming. ;)

But since I foolishly youtube-rated McCarthy as better than Watson, I'd have to disagree and say that Pat was the best slider - almost universally phantom drafted as a top 25 pick. :thumbsu:

First night as an AFL footballer and Heppell already has a blonde asking about his groin.

Tough gig.

If Essendon can get chewed out for passing on Atley, I don't know why the same criteria doesn't apply to Adelaide who need midfielders.

Or Geelong who just lost Ablett.

If Atley is that good, why did he slide past Geelong, GC (instead of the tiny Prestia), Port and Adelaide?

I cant tell the difference.

I think that one of them actually performs on the big stage... cant work out which one though...

Draft talk:Emma Quayle
Carlton had both Matthew Watson and Pat McCarthy on its list of potential No. 18 picks and ended up getting both, McCarthy the tall player pushed down the order as clubs opted for midfielders early. Luke Mitchell, the Blues' No. 42 pick, missed much of the season with a shoulder injury yet returned late as a fitter, more agile player. In those three, the Blues have some genuine, key position-sized depth to start developing.

Even though the odds of Fisher getting drafted were long, it's still sad that Brad wasn't picked up and given a second chance. :(

I can tell you Carlton were deciding between Nick and one other mature age player from the VFL at pick 70. Duigan was selected as the other player is younger and therefore a better prospect to be on the rookie list. This player will be picked up if available in the Rookie Draft.

I wonder if it'll be a midfielder, or a taller player.

Given the amount of taller players we took in the ND, it would not surprise if it was a smaller player.

If so, one (or both) of Sewell and Hibberd would suit me just fine :thumbsu:

I wonder if Ash Arrowsmith did enough to get another chance (wouldn't mind that at all), or if it's a taller player like Matt Little.

Looking forward to the RD already.

Gotta be Sewell or Hibberd, most likely the latter if they we deciding between him and Duigan because they are similar players.

So you watched the interview with Wayne Hughes on CFC TV too.

BIB has provided info before without blowing his own trumpet. Not sure where the angst comes from if people with a reasonable track record provide information. Some of you guys are become bitchy for no apparent reason. Let's not let our cliques continue to get people offside.

This board wants to maintain ALL of you, not just whoever survives the catfights.

Granted some reveal themselves to be big noters or frauds, but it is getting so this place is full of factions, fighting to be biggest rooster in the henhouse.

Richmond's draft was a total disaster. They actually did OK in last years draft, but completely butchered this one. They used their 30 pick on a HB flanker who was due to go around 50-60, missed McCarthy (phew), and decided to not use their compo pick for some unknown reason and so missed out on Darling. Weagles draft effort wasn't much better. Going to be hard for these bottom 2 teams over the next few years. Looks like these compromised drafts are going to impact the bottom clubs a lot more. Teams that finish around the lower part of the 8 can still do quite well.

:)
