....West Coast got Gaff who is excellent,....

Weagles actually only used 3 draft picks if you excluded the F&S. That was their problem rather than the first 2 picks they made which were good. When you finish 16th, using only 3 draft picks is very strange, and suggests insufficient list turnover i.e. list stagnation.

Richmond statistically had the worst forwardline in the comp. After Jack's 70'odd goals, the next was about 15-18 range. So they were screaming out for a forward to assist him. They could have had either Darling or Mitchell or McCarthy who can play forward but didn't do it for some reason. It wasn't a good draft for them.

GC, Blues and North did the best. Turned out to be a very interesting draft.

Why would you exclude F/S when they used the pick to bring a new player in?

They've got room for the rookie draft plus they just de-listed Hansen to free up another spot for the PSD.

We only used four picks in the 2005 draft.

2010 AFL Draft Review
Carlton - A+ (WOW! I love all of their selections - boosted their tall talent big time - very good players and great fits relative to need)

Matthew Watson (18), Patrick McCarthy (34), Luke Mitchell (43), Andrew McInnes (67), Nick Duigan (70)

Watson was always the man at 18 - great fit for Carlton from a needs perspective and I also think he was the best talent available too.

To get McCarthy too - who was probably in close contention for pick 18 is great fortune! They could form a very formidable defensive duo down the track...

Then Mitchell at 43 - a very good super tall and strong bodied forward prospect that I rated top 25 - surely the Carlton recruiters must've checked the date after all of that to make sure it wasn't December 25th...

McInnes at 67 was definitely the icing on the cake - very solid player that does little wrong - would be one of the few I'd tip drafted beyond 50 that I think will play 100 games.

Haven't seen Duigan play...
