Macrae reminds me of Morton.

Was thinking that, so did Whitfield. Though it's probably just us demon fans being silly, post traumatic Morton disorder.

we took 25 year old Matt Jones when Dayle Garlett was still available lol

Yeah, how silly of us to take a mature age player who can win the footy and is a high character guy over a dodgy bloke who no one else in the draft wanted either.

You talk some serious rubbish sometimes.

Feel we did alright. Got plenty of mids, particularly ones with pace about them which is what we needed. A few surprise non-selections though: Colquhoun, Gartlett and Haynes that I can think of who were rated pretty well. Reckon we'll be looking at them for a rookie spot? Particularly someone like Gartlett as a small forward?

Maybe a rookie draft selection for Garlett? Really says something about his character that he was not drafted at all..

You would think someone will take a punt on Garlett as a rookie. Really speaks volumes about him as a person that not one club wanted to select him in the draft. Clearly his stocks have dropped off VERY quickly over the last few weeks.

Rookie spot may be worth it...I guess his attitude must be horrible though if no club was willing to take the risk with him.

WHO THE FUARK is matt jones

Sorry for the intrude ... Rapt that Matt Jones gets an opportunity on a senior list ... Played for the Box Hill Hawks last year and has some ability ... mercurial type .. I think he can surprise many ... good late round pick by the Dees ..

Think you guys have done extremely well from the draft ... all the best.

Could you tell us a bit more?

Very smart user of the ball ... Likes to run and carry ... In a game v Coburg this year was sensational 31 possessions and used it well ... disappointed to lose him from Box Hill but he could play AFL so I'm glad he gets his chance ... he has a laconic way about him.

Todd was excited even though we knew we had him maybe the reality of reading his name overwhelmed him a little :)

The smile on Neeld's face said it all.

Dean Kent? Never heard of him, but I like the name. When he puts on the red and the blue maybe he'll turn into Superman.

Maybe we have enough off-field issues to contend with at the moment.
That is true, but not sure how picking Gartlett will affect that outcome...maybe being so close to not getting an AFL opportunity will smarten him up in a hurry.

The kid has super talent it will come down to how much vs how big of a risk

Pretty happy with our drafting tonight.. midfielders with pace guts and kicking penetration is exactly wat we needed as well as good size and blokes who can play straight away..

oh an pick 68 is a defender yeh?

Running defender. Checked out his highlights and he looks a good selection at #68. Good kick on both sides, good size and can hold his own in a contest. A smaller defender is something we needed so he will certainly fill a role for us.

Looks like a running half back flanker/back pocket which we desperately need. Fair to say that all the draftees are physically developed, and will be given the opportunity to press for round 1 selection.

A little disappointed we didn't take Colquohoun, i thought he could've really played a role for us coming out of defence. Was damn annoyed when Membrey got sniped too. Dunno why people are surprised that we didn't take Garlett, Neeld just spent a month culling people with the wrong attitude and the kid clearly has issues. Last thing we need is more party kids or players who will have a big negative affect on the whole group. Wrapped we got Toumpy, (can that be his nickname?) and i guess we'll wait and see on the other 3. How shattered did Ollie Wines look on the podium! Don't worry there's a Demon jumper waiting for you in 2 years time kid. :p

Pretty good draft - happy with all of them. Improved the list dramatically. Obviously too early to get carried away; there's still the matter of 'development'. But I'm pretty psyched for 2013 and beyond with the addition of this lot.
