2. Best Available
81. Boston
99. Cameron

Ive been interested in the gc suns list build for a while. My impression is that after all the trades of your players wanting to leave + the trades of some qld zones the pick 25 will probably somehow be upgraded to something in the mid to late teens. 15 - 20.
I dont think you can say either cameron or boston are as good as a kid you would pick up with this selection. Therefore this is why i think you may use 4 picks in the draft not 3.
However i guess this means you will have to trade/delist an extra player, but i see all 4 recruits being better than a hutchins/flanagan/magin/hine who may otherwise not be delisted.

now, im happy for the dees they got a famous club name back, but i wonder how pretentious this kid is? he says he would play harder for another side if the dees didnt get him!! so how hard will he play for the dees. one wonders if the 178cm kid took an on field tantrum, and ran into k hunt in angry desperation would go? he seems the type. i for one am glad we let him pass..

he says....

Jack Viney says Melbourne will only get one chance to secure him and, if not, he will make them pay

In a bold warning, Viney Jr said he would try to make Melbourne regret its decision -- and never return to the Demons -- if ignored at Monday's father-son bid meeting.
"I don't think I would go back to Melbourne. If they let it slip it's their fault and life goes on,'' Viney Jr said.
"If that happens, I don't owe anything to Melbourne, besides my Dad playing there.
"I would be quite disappointed. I would do everything in my power to make them regret that decision.''

"That would just motivate me to train harder and, I guess, bring out more in myself,'' Viney said.

Anyone know much about Brian Coleman-Broome? Looks like he is a talented indigenous player from Darwin. Is he a chance of being drafted? To the Suns or Lions presumably.

He also went to the same school and NEAFL team as Tom Hickey.

Also to note, we're certainly not done with regarding the Mini Draft either. Jack Martin in particular is very much a Scotty Clayton type recruit. :D

Scott Clayton is the List Manager, not Recruitment Manager...

GOLD Coast is expected to pounce on another talented junior, with the imminent signing of highly-rated Queensland key position player Clay Cameron.

With an announcement expected as early as Monday, Cameron will join the Suns under the club's Queensland zoning allowance.

Cameron, who plays with Mt Gravatt in the NEAFL, had been touted an early second round selection in November's NAB AFL Draft.

This is someone that I'm hoping we pick up with our actual 'live' pick. Jesse Lonergan.

Lonergan stars in AFL draft camp.

The 17-year-old Launceston midfielder was one of the stars of last week's national draft combine in Melbourne.

At Etihad Stadium, Lonergan finished equal top of the goal-kicking test, with 30 points, second in the standing vertical jump (83 centimetres), third in the running vertical jump (91 centimetres) and seventh in the repeat sprints (25.12 seconds).

Lonergan spoke to 12 AFL clubs, including Melbourne, Adelaide, St Kilda, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Hawthorn, in what he said was a ``daunting experience''.

Best inside midfielder that would be available at our pick, along with the best player to come out of Tasmania this year. Got some huge numbers up in the Champs, but he didn't exactly have a lot of assistance. Would be rapt if we could get him. Exactly what our list needs right now.

Another tassie guy wouldn't hurt our supporters from down there. We've got a fair few already. Would be happy picking him up.

Lonergan would be OK if our pick is still in the twenties. If we can manage a pick in the teens and he slides I've liked what I've seen of Nick Vlastuin. Can play at half-back and as an inside mid - beautiful disposal and didn't look as slow as some have made him out to be. I also liked the highlights of Josh Simpson from WA - very classy and likely to slip into the twenties from most reports - apparently doing a leadership course with WCE so they must rate him highly as well.

From Adelaide Now

Meanwhile, the futures of forwards Ben McKinley, Aaron Edwards and Ben Warren hang in the balance with the club shelving their contracts until after the trade period.

“A lot of deals are being held up until the compensation picks are announced on Friday,” McDonald said.

Ben Warren is a Queenslander 189cm and 89 kg, not a power forward but would be cheap and has experience. thoughts??

Add Garlett, Campbell, McIntosh and Pedersen to that list, North seem to be doing a fair bit of spring cleaning!

Dunno about Warren, numbers only say so much. Doesn't seem that big out on the field, and hasn't really shown much, in my opinion.

Could be a handy pick up as a medium forward , would only rookie him though.

There's a guy that Chris from the D&T board has made me aware of, who I think would be a very good fit for us if we drafted him. Reminds me so much of Dustin Martin from his highlights, save perhaps not as gifted athletically. Like a bull on the ball, will dive in and get out. I noticed that he retweeted some GC FC Suns information, so fingers crossed we interviewed him and may even pick him up. ;)

He's called Jason Pongracic. These are some of the write-ups on him:

Strong body and big bodied inside ball winner who has missed some time this year with injury. Real in and under type who attacks the footy and more often than not comes out with it. Displays great hardness at the footy and just really attacks it. Seems to really enjoying playing for the contested ball. Excellent by both hand and foot and is one of those few strong contested ball winners who can use it really well. Pongracic is a really early bloomer and has been good for a number of years. The question with Pongracic is because he is bigger than everyone else does he do it because of size or because he is just better than everyone else? The other query is on pace and he is not one of the quickest midfielders going around. In any case he will be one of the more immediate talents who should be able to step up to AFL level more quickly than the next midfielder. Pongracic has also shown since coming back from injury this year the ability to play up forward and have an impact.

Pongracic is a difficult player to place this year, and in the end I've probably gone lower than what most others would have him. He just hasn't had the greatest season in my eyes. He has had some injuries this year which saw him miss the first few weeks of the Championships and a bit of TAC Cup football this year, but he returned well and began impacting games from the get go - more so as a forward. One issue I have is that I just don't see him being a forward at the next level, he seems to rely heavily on his strength in marking contests in the TAC Cup. But as an inside midfielder, he would have to be one of the stronger ones in the draft. He is just so hard to move in a contest and I do think there is more to his game than just being stronger than everyone else. His attack on the ball will instantly endear him to all 18 coaches, it seems that he prides himself on being at the bottom of every pack. He reminds me a bit of Brent Moloney - although not as damaging a kick. I think he could go anywhere from top 25 to the third round, he is just one of those players - and I think you'd have to focus more on what he could become as a midfielder. AFL Comparison: Brent Moloney.

Expected to go from 15+. He may find the transition to AFL tough, since his big body won't help him out as much at this level, but I think he has the right tools.

Most people have him much lower than 13. Would make for a very small midfield with Prestia and Matera also running through there.

Hrovat is a bit too small and slow, he is quality but not what you would want at #13. I like Vlastuin, hard at it, bigger bodied, good disposal by hand and foot and is also touted as captain material. Should be around at #13 as well. :thumbsu:

Plough also said we could be looking at Jesse. Pick #13 is probably a bit higher than he's worth, but he fills that need for us. See the reviews above for information.

With huge amounts of luck, Stringer will be available.

If not, then I'd be over Jesse more than anyone else. Maybe Garner too, who's a Fyfe type.

just listening to plows assessment of our list he seems to think we should go for rhovat in the draft with 13 as an inside mid.. he thinks that where we need to improve our list the most
Then we should avoid him like the plague, Wallet has destroyed enough lists, he can stay away from ours.

Suns consider Tippett turnaround.
The Suns declared then that would be uninterested in Tippett even if talks between the key forward and his preferred club, the Sydney Swans, fell through.

But on Thursday, Ashcroft said if Tippett did become available as a result of the AFL's investigation, the Suns would re-evaluate whether to pursue him.

"We haven’t discussed it," Ashcroft said. "It's a hypothetical that we haven't really given any thought to.

"(But) if things change down the track, I guess we need to have a conversation."

Well, that's interesting to say the least.

Add Kurt to the other ins for 2013, and suddenly the side looks much more dangerous.
